Change is Happening and that too at a furious pace. Some will get left behind, some will reach faster, the more we can raise the scale of the bottom , the better placed we will be, we need to do our bit to ensure the the bottomline(pun intended)meaning the poverty line gets raised, We should be in a state to provide the basics to all (food water and shelter ). That should be our aim.
The Author is way off the mark on India's supposed role in the future of the World. The fact remains that having the majority of the World's Population India has a greater stake. This entails India should be responsible in all its actions.
About time India asserts itself rather than ape the West. India has contributed much to the World down the ages and continues to do so even today. Let the same go on.
We should celebrate this rather than have a false feeling that we make the Future of the World.

u dont deserve to live in India with this kind of attitude towards India . Just check whether your roots are from pakistan? mr Kutumbarao .
While its hard to say whether future of world hinges on india but definitely future of india is in our politicians hands.I wud like to raise a point here, how many of us are aware of the modalities of nuke deal betwn India and US? Do u think the politicians at the helm including PM MM Singh are concerned abt motherindia as intensly as a common man does? How many of u have utilised the RTI???I think the day aam admi starts using the RTI to a good effect the future of politicians atleast (if not india or world\'s) will start changing. My view is open for discussion, debate on this.

Well prakash, I agree with you, but not completely....imagine each 1 billion of us starts using RTI just for the sake of using it without any valid reason....the complete government machinery will be dealing with RTI applications....do u want that to happen ? Or something can be done about it ?
I am not sure what the author is tryying to say here
Quote
"There is shocking poverty in America and the gap between the rich and the poor is escalating. That is why if India can transform itself into a more dynamic society that really cares about its poor and disadvantaged, it can offer powerful examples not only to America but to any country in the world.
Unquote.
Is the author saying...that India takes care of its poor better than the US?
RE:Question.

No, that's not what she meant, methinks. She said the gap between rich and poor, i.e. the difference between their incomes. Actually, that gap is widening in India too. What she meant was that if India can find ways of reducing this delta, and can find ways of helping the poor (not to say that it does, just that if it does so)it will serve as an example. America does take care of its poor reasonably well... at least they dont starve. They may not have good clothes or a place to live, but I dont think they starve like what we have in India. (Many churches in the US give homeless people a place to sleep and food). The US govt has a welfare system in place (Social Security).
we need to keep our distance from the US...becoz if we get too close to the US, thats when the troubles start..i am not pointing at attacks from anti-us guys(like osama)..but from the us itself...these guys even fooled the brits into war on iraq!! its best to leave US alone atleast politically and allow it get into as much mess as it wants...offcourse we shud not have that stupid nuclear deal as well..its aim is to disarm our nuclear weapons more than anything else!
RE:yes india is growing but...

well venkat, I agree with you but totally disagree with you on the nuclear front...well it depends on the intelect and cunningness of our bureaucrats and politicans to get the best bargain in the nuclear deal..infact the Indian nuclear scientists have already managed to put brakes on the government from concurring on any nuclear deal that will cap its nuclear arm activities....we should wait and watch and make noises only if its indeed disarming India's nuclear weapons...
Its we the people who chose lalus and balus. Before yucking, we readers must appreciate the point raised by Author. What she tried to say was all about India's potential...
fate of india is in the hands of politicians.. so the fate of the world is in the hands of indian politicians??? &^%&*%$ --think siddhu,lalu,devegowda,paswan... yuckkkkkkkkk

I agree that the fate of India is in the hands of politicians. But, the fate of these politicians is in ur hands. Vote for the Best. If u could not find the Best, u can become the Best. Dont blame politicians for all ur faults

well...what if every politician is like that and what if every perosn who becomes a politician becomes like that. So what needs to change is not politician but the system. We need to have civil appraisal system for our leaders. The leader you choose, did not function well; might as well bring that person down and make him beg for mercy? Have guts????

i am not blaming politicians.. in fact blaming someone implies that the person is capable of action(positive or negative).. our politicians are like eunuchs... neither here nor there

I really liked the way you made the comparison. If the fate of the world is in the hands of Indian politicians, then the whole world is doomed. These bunch of idiots have one sole motive, to rob the people and be in power always.
