India @60
by Ahi Sen on Jan 25, 2007 09:13 AM  Permalink

Reservation in recuitment, promotion etc proved to be beneficial to the person who gets appointed or promoted though not deserving but it compromises with effiency in work as well as standard behavior expected from holders of such posts. Insread of relaxation in merit spend more to impart adequate training and help the incumbents to catch up with standards necessary for the organisations. The competitiveness is best to get desired result from the employees.

It is badluck of India
by Santosh Gupta on Jan 25, 2007 09:02 AM  Permalink

It has been a badluck of India that we have reservation in everything. I understand that those people require much more additional support than creame layer but for example when a person scores 20-25% and get a medical seat and other scores 70% and could not get it, you can understand, what level of medical understanding that person will have and what benefit community would have out of that. They should be given everything free but not the seats in education and other places because India have to compete with the world and we have to maintain high standards to maintain that that that's why reservation is one of the reason that I left India and working in Australia because there is no future of people who do not have reservation in India and no future of India either. People say that one day India will lead but that is saying only not reality. Santosh Gupta

Again Reservation!
by Prashant on Jan 25, 2007 08:43 AM  Permalink

Reservation is an outcome of caste system. As long as Caste system exist reservation will be there and should be there.

If you want to get rid of the reservation get rid of the CASTE SYSTEM.

Whay no one talks about this and just keep poping up same issue again and again.

I think TN Seshan has a point. If you guys have studied Statistics well in school or college you will know that a few percentage of people cannot represent the entire population. So, reservation only helps some people and the rest (majority) will still remain poor as they have no idea about what education is and will do. So, the creamy layer who donot need reservations will benefit even if it is 10% or 30%. The point about 2000 years is silly, absurd and ridiculous. In the last 700 years India has been ruled by foreigners from Mughals to Britishers and in the last 50 years we have our own rule, so don't tell me you need more years to become like anyone and anyways why should a generation which was not part of your 2000 years claim pay for it? Now, everyone is equal and has access to education. So, don't go on saying that some one way back 2000 years ago was exploited and now the entire country needs to pay the price for it. Grow up guys, we are in the 21st century, don't let the next generation say that we were exploited and mis-treated by reservation, so we need protection. There is no end to this ridiculous game.

He has stated that:

Why the present generation is sticking to the 2000 year old caste system. Also, 700 years of foreigners' rule in India has not changed the caste system.
Why should the generation which was not part of the said 2000 years still divide the people of the nation on the basis of castes?
How come that everyone is equal. It just makes feel good, and is just in the paper. The society is no so. Why the caste system is followed in all functions, from birth - through marriages - to even after death?
If we claim that we are in the 21st Century, do we Indians rationally behave and throwing the caste system to the wind?

There would be an end to this riduculous game, if ALL INDIANS cast off the caste system!

The people who are pathetic are those who are going to the government office and asking for a toilet tissue certificate called caste certificate to be issued and get it signed and photocopied and laminated and kepp it in safe for use by the incompetent and idiotic children they produce to get seats in the degree colleges by scoring 35% marks,Viola caste toilet tissue works,Kets get rid of caste system but lets hold on to the toilet tissue certificate called caste certificate. We need it and we shall spill blood to hold on to it! Does that make sense????

Are we concerning, on actuality.
by RAJNEESH MEENA on Jan 25, 2007 01:45 AM  Permalink  | Hide replies

why their is hot discussion on this topic, better understand things properly. 15% reserved for SC, 7.5% reserved for ST &, 27.5% of OBC (including all) total will be 49%. now as per population all these counted for nearly 75%, thus remaining 51% seats for 25% population, because once you will be provided with reservation, you never going to apply for a seat without it and this is reality. conclusion the persons making debates on the issue are mostly benifited virtually.

the remaining 51% percent is open competition. You dont know how reservation works that's the issue. The remaining 51% accomodates everybody the reserved and the non-reserved. Just go and understand how reservation works first!.

Just a bearucratic reply
by kishore Das on Jan 25, 2007 01:04 AM  Permalink  | Hide replies

He has been in the bearucracy for too long and he is only going to approve things which make India slow like a tortoise. My question is : WHY SHOULD NOT THERE BE RESERVATION?
How can India grow if 80% of its people are not intelligent and smart? He does not have any answers to this question.
India is a powerhouse in IT today not because of 2000 IITians. It is a powerhouse since 100000 engineers from other colleges make it lucrative to the foreign companies to reduce their costs and that is why India is attractive. So if you bring another 200000 smart people in the front who can manage things well what is the harm. Moreover I think this is going to be beneficial for the society as well. Since if someone is smart and literate it is highly unlikely that a rogue politician can persuade them easily as per their own filthy wishes. It would be difficult to force something on them which is not jsutifiable and then India would grow and glow.
And anyone and everyone can be turned into an asset with a proper investment. So what is the issue.
Well, it is rather time for the politicians to get smart too if they want to run a smart country.

Well..As you said in your own words India is a powerhouse in IT because of its 2000 IITians and 100000 engineers from other colleges who make it lucrative to the foreign companies to reduce their costs and that is why India is attractive. So if you bring another 200000 smart people in the front who can manage things well what is the harm.

Well there is no harm , but the point is let those IITans 200000 SMART PEOPLE get the admission to the Engineering colleges on the basis of their Merit and Talent and not on the basis of their cast and reservation.

If you consider yourself talented and at the same time belong to some reserved category then why don't you apply for admission and Government Jobs under Open category ..!

Mr.Sharma whom are u fooling; other than merit its truly the access to coaching classes (which requires big money)which is the reason why someone will make it to the top colleges or not.And after admission everyone (OC or BC)has to appear for & pass the same exams, so people not upto the mark are debarred anyway; where is the question of fall in standards.
I agree members of creamy layer within BCs should be excluded from further taking benefits of reservations.

We are the fools !!!
by atul gupta on Jan 24, 2007 09:20 PM  Permalink

Everyone knows that the reservation game is political, then why do we vote for such politicians, why do we not force them have a taste of it themselves. Let sonia and manmohan and arjun singh have their personal doctors drawn from the reserved category, their personal pilots from reserved category and the schools for their grandchildren have teachers from a few municipal schools. Let ahul marry a o-called OBC to prove his credentials to the world.

Take out creamy layer !!!
by murki suresh on Jan 24, 2007 08:41 PM  Permalink

The real benifits of reservations can only be achieved by taking out creamy layer from the eligibility.

Otherwise i am sure the creamy layer sitting in the cities will never allow the poor people from the villages to get the benifits of reservations!!!!

When i spoke with some of my friends on the creamy layer issue they don't want to giveup claim on reservations eventhough they are qualified engineers with good financial position.(It is my personal horrible experience !!!)

Take out the creamy layer and help the poor people.

Thanks
