Just banishing child labour does not solve the problem. Why does any parent send the child for work? Because, they cannot feed the child. If using the law, Government prevents the child from going for job, then who will feed the child. The best solution will be for a teacher to go to the work place where children are working and teach them during the break period.
u have said that u have been following india's growth--well thn u must b aware of the fact that in 1990's India cud 'shine' in ur terms....whn it changed its foeign policy....it accepted the way of being a new capiatlist state...though partially. it competed wth the superpowers to have an economic independence.....after opening its frontiers 4 finance dependence.
As far as being humane goes.....u sould be well aware that people here r not asking about the ages of their servants....but helping to save them of the torture (physical and mental),of being not able to have a bread for themselves. people here have started enrolling their servants in educational boards.they have started lending them books of their children. The youth have brought a bulge in the NGO sector too.
India learnt to be plitical harder way on its way up -from the question of "if it can be a super power" to "when it will be". That was a need to survive and stride through the other politiacl powers. Beyond having just a thought.....it had to deal with the situationsjust like u did......when u went from here to have a great destiny in Canada.......do u have a heart to comeback and face realities back home?
Indias is the most rotten system in the whole world. 25-35 is the most ripe age to achieve something and the marriage and the Dowry and DV laws screws them up wasting youth talent of the country. India is the only country to consider marital dispute through criminal laws. Once dowry case is slapped by the daughter in law, the husband and the whole family (age old parents, pregnant sisters, school going minor children) is put behind bars without investigation and there is no law to protect men from these false case. There is no punishment forgiving false complainant. supreme court terms this as legal terrorism but does nothing. The conviction rate is 1 % meaning around 90 % are false cases. When there will be ray of hope from these dirty laws harrassing innocent people.

Dude i guess you are speaking of personal stuff. And we are discussing something else.Brother you clearly have missed the bus and are pampering yourself to a wild show against the indian judiciary.
Dear Mr. Bhaskar While the article talks of lofty ideals and mannerisms found at superficial levels in the west, i would urge you to look at the real india!. I have travelled reasonably outside India, including Canada and am fully aware of the positives and negatives there!
All the lip service of good morning, how are we, how is the day? Are you ok? Take Care emanate from the lips in the west, while the similar stuff out in india is straight from the Heart!
I have also witnessed the kind of abuse and fights over car mishaps in the west, while at Ahmedabad guys get down assess the damage, exchange telephone numbers and walk away! During times of crisis unknown, unrelated guys do the extra mile to help you in india, while in Lucerne, switzerland, I was stranded on the road with my family on a friday evening in Nov 2002 owing to breakdown in our car - Vehicles whizzed past, no one cared to stop and find out if i was ok! For all the media abuse on Gujarat riots, during earthquake in 2001, floods in 2005 all the members of the society irrespective of the community they belonged worked shoulder to shoulder, hands to hand and helped all and one! Compare this with hurricane katrina and the fall out thereafter in USA. IT is the vested MNC and the Foreign merceneries who want to tap the burgeoning economy of india, calling it a superpower in making! We were always a Super Power and will be a Super Power! Why look at negatives only in India! Try running a country with 1 billion population, with 28 states and 30 odd languages and more than six principal religions! For all my NRI bretherns who have chosen to remain far from their home land one fervent request! You are happy where you are and we are happy where we are! if you are so concerned about equalities, first try to get one for yourself! How many of you have been invited for a dinner / family function of a non indian, in the places where you reside! Dont tell me inviting home for dinner / functions is only an indian custom!
Reflect deeply - Self esteem is more important than sitting in clinically clean glall cells, and subtly regulated society and pointing out the illusionary and imagined ills of the long left homeland! Any way each has a right of opinion, you have yours and i have mine!

Hello Mr. Natraj. I really liked your reply to the note made by Mr. Ravi. My self been in UK for last 3 years, I have total consent with your words. Infact INDIANS do have empathy & simpathy towards man kind. MERA BHARAT MAHAN.

I love to see your message which reflected more or less my feelings abroad.
Hey Ravi, I appreciate your spirit and sensibilities towards your mother country. But dear actions speak louder than words. There are umpteen of politicians in our country who are outstanding in word bashing. Lets do something practical. Why dont you guys form a Trust and do something for helping street children, or for abolition of child labour you talked about?. Now its our turn (young guys like us) to do something on the subjects you talked about. Thanks.

let's join the hands to do some creative work. Who all there for the constructive work to improve our country.
Hi Ravi, A question well asked about the nature of indians after an accident. We as Indians definitely shower gaalis but we forget it at that as we dont sue the other person for millions of dollars(US style...).And when we are all talking of the economical disparity in India i think we forget that the Blacks or Nigers to be more specific(again US style) have to resort to crime in order to earn their bread.Clean roads need not mean a better life.I can walk without a care in mumbai at 2 in the night can u do the same in New York???????The HEART was shown after the recent mumbai blasts or the 26th July deluge where people forgot religion caste and creed to uphold humanity and its most important essence LIFE....Though it was nice to spare a thought but India is a superpower when it comes to HUMANITY and as far as the economics are concerned we are catching up real fast...

hey devendra, if you are talking about walking in the mumbai streets at 2 am, for a guy yes it is possible, but think about a girl, its not safe for her even during the day time, remember the gate way of india rapes?? I think new york is any day safe that way for a women too at 2 am in the night. And what do you call the noida killings? we still have a long way to go and every individual every citizen has to take action to reach there.. that includes YOU and ME too..

yes, there are problems everywhere. but you and me know well about the kind of girls who would be out at night on the roads at 2 a.m. either it's at new york or mumbai.
the only difference is that MOST indian girls would NOT like to get raped and MOST of the girls in new york would like to have some FUN (new york kinda fun).
"I think new york is any day safe that way for a women too at 2 am in the night." yeah. you are right. but, she may be shot some times as well..
mumbai is surely a safer place in terms of crime when compared to new york.. c'mon !!

What do you mean ??? MOST Indian girls would NOT like to be raped and MOST of the girls in New York would like to have some fun??? Do you mean that there are women in New Yorjk who like to be raped or that women who are out at 2 a.m. deserve it or are "those kind of girls"? There are women who work late night shifts and return home late. Outrageous comment, that's all!
Ravi Bhaskar's beautifully coveted article has real sense and so does he has rights to express his apprehensions/feelings .
Many are getting upset about an NRI writing like this. Why? I know the immediate reactions abroad when a resident sitting in India creates will have a definite impact on the NRI's because they are the immediate ambassadors. What does people like Gowdas, Lalus, Sorens, and many such who are sitting in India doing? Are they not shedding crocodile tears with a view to woo voters? Sitting in India you cannot feel the pulse of many things as you are also a part of the system.
Common, think something big to see that India achieves the best and contribute for its growth in all the spheres.
Terming the thoughts of Mr.Bhaskar, as a crocodile tears is an acme of ludricous absurdity in the present situation when our aim is only to outclass all the others in general and China in particular.
Dear Ravi, Well done. You mean to say what one Chinese Abasador to US said once that "India ruled China for last 20 centuries without sending a single soldier across the border i.e. by power of her knowledge and culture"
dear bhaskar i wanna ask a simple qsn from u wat r u doing to tackle one or more of these problems? if u r doing something then its well n good but if u r not doing anything then by mere writing of articles u r not serving the purpose man u need to b practical

You mean we should follow the filmy routes shown by movies like "Rang De Basanti", "Munna Bhai MBBS", "Lage Raho Munna Bhai", "Anniyan", "Khosla ki Ghosla", and may be more you know?
Nothing wrong in sharing thoughts, at least you know some one is agnozing over it. If a hundred more give it a thought, if only ..., may be some things at least will change. Let's hope for the best?

mr. m.shankar, may be you left out the movie "swades". well, the point is there are lots of people trying to invest their wide ideas which many of us have earned from different places in to india. we all know that the IT work enviornment in india is becoming much better when compared to other countries.
in that case, why not use our brains to support our own mother land. yes, we might get a few thousand dollars lesser if we work in india. no one is ready to bare that loss. are we NRI's ??
I guess u ve struck exactly the right cord which is the need of the hour and year to come . Otherwise this easy flow of funds will make us flow with it and we will get only a quantitative success and a not a quealitative one.
