Mischief creators!
by Sadhan Pande on May 12, 2007 12:42 AM  Permalink

1)CPI general secretary A B Bardhan said the ruling required to be debated thoroughly by judicial and constitutional experts.
2)D Raja, national secretary of CPI, which supports the United Progressive Alliance from outside, said the judgement would have far reaching consequences
3)UPA constituent PMK expressed shock over the judgement, saying it would only lead to confusion as over 20 laws would be open for review.

They do not deserve to be our lawmakers. We do not want these people playing with us in the name of social upliftment all that they want is to remain in power by hook or crook and care a hoot about the common people. Its a great step
by dharmendra pandit on Jan 12, 2007 04:28 AM  Permalink

Its a great step because now the irresposible politicians will have another pole of power to check them from making laws with their vested interest only. For example the recently passed DV act got passed without even a discussion. The law actually is a milestone in women empowerment but the only hiccup is that it is prone more to misuse that use. This law and the draconian 498a law(www.498a.org) have power to potentially affect all the families in india which are supported by NCW and left parties for their vested interested. I hope this ruling will help correct the blunders commited by polititians in the past, present and future.

Must need ruling ...
by Durga Thumati on Jan 12, 2007 03:13 AM  Permalink

98 % of our political leaders are 420. But we still are supporting them like sheep. At least there is some organization to correct the laws which are twisting as per their needs of the political people vote banks.
See a law on office of profit which was passed in recent times to save themselves (no matter of parties)...
See the law passing in AP to release congress pensioners (both of these wifes are MLAs) who are punished for life...
I want to tell one thing to our speaker as he always says he and Parliament is Supreme. Mr Somanath, now a days people are feeling sorry for the cops un necessarily lost their lives in saving the worst people in India (nothing but you and your collogues in parliament) when terrorists attack the parliament. Mr. Speaker this is the respect politicians has.
Finally I want to say No politician will think about you and me. All they need is power to make money and money. In this process we may get some benefits like reservations (please note there is no reservations in parliament seats), free power, free houses, free food, may be free health. BUT NOT JUSTICE JUSTICE JUSTICE JUSTICE

Applaudable judgement and reasonable reactions
by girish s on Jan 11, 2007 11:19 PM  Permalink

Who is Indira Jaisingh? Most political reactions are considering their own political interests and understandable, except for some anti-nationals..and it seems even the political class approves of the upholding of Constitutional validity and accountability of law making process, someting fundamental for democracy, and which is often violated out of compulsions of coalition politics. It is indeed a positive judgement, neither as a subdue to Parliament, nor as an autocratic authoritarianism, simply as an uphold to Constitution and should be interpreted in right context.

Supreme Court ruling on Ninth Schedule
by Akkapatruni Jeevanjaya on Jan 11, 2007 11:14 PM  Permalink

Sir,
The Judgement should be wecomed by all one. The politicians are elected and functioning under Constitution and they cannot take away the fundamental principles of constitution without taking clear mandate from Indian citizens.Mere elected does not mean that they can do whatever they wish over riding the constitution.

SC Judgement
by Anil Babu on Jan 11, 2007 09:58 PM  Permalink

It is right judement given by SC. All political parties in India are not concerned about development and justice to be done to the society at large. They are worried about their vote bank and comming back to power. This judegment will force all political parties to keep country first and other things as secondary. Thanks to SC for giving these kind of judegments. People of our country lost faith on all political parties and have faith only on SC.
