Assam Killing

In my opinion if in any case, the ULFA wants to deal with many immigrants problem in the state, it should be something to do with Bagladeshi immigrants which spread all over Assam and Nagaland as well and not the innocent Biharis. They happen to dominate only in Tinsukian town unlike the Mias everywhere.

Assam Bleeds
by arnab prakash deka on Jan 10, 2007 06:11 AM  Permalink

The problem in Assam will never be resolved as there is no strong political will to solve the issues. All that happens in the name of talks is nothing but Lip service. Cant blame the ULFA and the ISI they do it for their selfish needs. So do our Politicians. The grass root problems are never addressed. Assam has a very high potential to be a economically forward state, the resources need to be tapped.

The centre want to bury ULFA by the use of brute force. They tried it earlier in the form of Operation Bajrang. what happened? Nothing Innocent people Died..thats it... Guys need to address the real issues rather than shooting in the dark... Until then Assam Bleeds....

Assam Violence
by on Jan 10, 2007 02:57 AM  Permalink

It is a shame that Mr Gogoi in order to cover up his utter failure to maintain law and order in the state has played the ISI card.Days after the killings of hindi speaking peoples, ministers from Bihar came to the site, but Mr Gogoi and his cabinet did not even bother to visit them, not even the local Congress MLA's. Assam Police has fattened so much with corruption, that Mr Gogoi has not decided to turn the state int a millitary ruled state, where army will be used to crush all opposition. Its the gameplan set by his right & left hand- Mr Hemanto Sarma and Rockybul Hussain.Mr Gogoi, who has decieved Assam, by rigging the elctions a year ago, can sense the threats and has played this effective gameplan. You will be surprised to know, Mr Gogoi's ministry consist of previous millitants, and there are credible reports that he used them in recent months to derail the ULFA peace talks,by covertly organising series of blasts in the city of Ghy and targetting ULFA.
Assam has to be seen not as we see UP or MP, but as a state that is being rampantly stripped off development by its own people. Millions of central funds disappear into the pockets of a select class of the urban elites. The rural areas are in abject poverty. ULFA is a manifestation of this rural discontent, if army is brought in it will worsen the wound.Already rumours are doing rounds that the Bihar regiment of Army caused several atrocities for which retaliations were taken. Will anyone please come forward,Will Mr Manmohan Singh stop allocationg fund, and start taking an account of all previous funds, and take the punitive measures to teach this ruling class( bureaucracy and politicians) a very tight lesson. If the PM fails this time, Assam will bleed to death.

Absolutely correct. Why everytime blame ISI for everything that happen in India. Do we have enough proof to satisfy International community to prove?? Do a Root Cause analysis and find out the culprit and take action accordingly. Pls show some professionalism and accountbility Mr. Gogoi..... and lets not talk about Industrial Growth in Assam. you are seems to be very very pessimistic without any work.

ULFA VIOLENCE
by vasu kannan on Jan 09, 2007 10:43 PM  Permalink

It is well known fact that ISI is involved in almost all anti India activities and publicity is made by President of Pakisthan as if he is a good freind of India and our Prime Minister endorse his remarks ? Unless we counter act with strong hands the country will be destroyed by these elements. wake up and take action.

A greater design : Is the ISI behind the ULFA violence in Assam
by on Jan 09, 2007 09:31 PM  Permalink

Most political party, especially the ruling party in the centre may summarily reject Mr. Gogoi's remarks as another peice of fiction. Maybe it may appear his rhetoric is just to wash off his hands from the affairs by puting the blame to the ISI. if we go deep down into Assam's hinterland, the greater design of the ISI would appear as not a peice of fiction, but a grim reality. It is no denying the fact that the Bangladeshi Muslims comprises one of the hardest working labour groups who had been present in Assam for ages, tilling the land and other doing all menial jobs. However the alarming rate of influx of the illegal Bangladeshis abetted by political parties has grown out of proportion so much that today they have become the major community in most of the Districts. Another group of people who have been living in Assam since time immemorial are the non-muslim immigrants working in the tea gardens who come from states like West Bengal, Bihar, Jharkhand, Orissa and other states. Among them the Biharis are hardest working community doing all menial jobs. Its is therefore no reason to believe that one of the community is felt threatened from this share of menial jobs. There is no denying the fact that ISI has a much larger presence in the North Eastern Region. The greater design of ISI is seeing a mojority community who in the long run have a stranglehold on Assam's economy. Mr. Gogoi is as such right at being concerned at this greater design of the ISI in Assam and the North East

Human lives have got no value in India. No matter how big the casualty figures of innocents are, the tone of political leaders is the same. Simply stating %u201Ccruel act%u201D, %u201Cgruesome act%u201D, and %u201Cinhuman act%u201D is not sufficient. People want justice, not the stereotype dialogues. Criticizing ISI and so and so is not good. Let it be x, y, z doesn%u2019t matter, such organizations are creating problem in our own land only. We need to act with strong hand. Negotiations, dialogues etc make a country week and soft and thereby encouraging such groups/elements to spread and ramp up their operations. The fact is 500 Indians is equivalent to one US/EU/developed Nation%u2019s citizen. The problem is we don%u2019t have a strong leader who loves his country and can protect his citizen. -- Avijit
