Saddam's execution
by BALA IYER on Jan 02, 2007 01:41 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

First of all who gave US the authority to put Saddam on trial, find him guilty and execute him?

As self appointed gaurdians US has no right to interfere in the affairs of another country. US & UK have innumerable violations of spanning several hundred years on Human Rights. Occupying countries and denying the locals/natives freedom they have subjugated innocent people.

Its a bloody SHAM! If local Iraqis had done it under their own regime its another matter but not a alien country like US.

If what the US has done can be condoned then most leaders of the US & WEST should be strung too.

Mr. Balaisyer, how far you know about 'Saddam' and 'International affairs'? Saddam was a kind of brutal dictator that he didn't even hesitate to kill two of his own son-in-laws just because they criticised Saddam to the western media. He uprooted thousands of his innocent opponents just to remain in power. His two sons Uday or Quse would have been probably his next victims should in any case Saddam would find out that they were in line of capturing his power! Live action when it happened are shown in American TV. I believe these scene were never broadcasted in Indian media. Had the people of India been informed all the Saddam's attrocities, I am sure nature of most of the postings would have been high standards.

I disagree some of the contents of Mr. Alok's writing. We have to agree that Saddam was given the judgment and execution was carried out by the Iraqi people. United States had nothing to do in it although it tried to maintain the rule of law. Most of the people of Iraq are very happy with the proceedings......who are we to cry in the woods?
Decision to carry out the execution falls within Iraqi tribunal's constitution which said convict's execution could be carried out within 30 day's after the final appeal is denied. Execution was carried out on the 5th day. Let us look at the following conversation of a senior Iraqi official which appeared in 'New York Times". ``No one beat him or insulted him, yet Saddam tortured many Iraqis, executed thousands and buried them in mass graves. former president's appeal failed, over the reservations of the U.S. ambassador who urged a two-week delay, Prime Minister Nuri al-Maliki made good on a promise to fellow Shi'ites that Saddam would not live to see 2007. So if we take as true we can say U.S had nothing to do in setting execution dates.

And If Saddam becomes a martyr and goes to heaven I am afraid heaven will be crowded with murderer.

By doing unjustice into other countries internal problems, US has done a big mistake for which they will reap punishment from God.
Saying nuclear violations, not able to find out any proof, enquiry for 1982 killings in a hasty manner of US supported cooligans, hanged Saddam who will create million Saddams in the world against US,by that time they can't get support or face the consequences.

US had played its card right
by Aparna on Jan 02, 2007 01:17 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

I feel US has played its cards very much right. The two parties in Iraq will be fighting against each other. It is the divide and rule policy applied by British in India and it worked out for them in India and will do in Iraq for US

Apran, i think you are absolutely right. When the powerful wants to take control, they usually create chaos between then weak, sit back and enjoy. Unfortunately weaker never learn from history and fight among themselves and get more weaker.

That is true, Britishers did it in India before they left and now these people wants to do the same before they leave.

In history, when ever the powerful misused their power, they kept doing it till god tightens their stings and turned the time over them. Cunning powerfuls can play their cards right, as long as God gives them chance to correct themselves.
