Maybe Mushie sent a nice gift over to Bush (probably a female) so the US is siding with Pak now. Whatever, it is again reconfirmed that US can never improve & can never be trusted. This is also a nice eye opener for our politicians. Or is it?
Yeah I would Pakistan is essential ally in war against terror. Ally to whom is the question, I guess its for the "Terror" so without them there wont be "Terror" so no ware that way its apt.
Pakistan will not hunt down taliban or al-aquade because both Taliban and Al-quade are in interest of ISI. We should remember that before 9/11, ISI was controlling afganistan thru. taliban. ISI had almost destablished Afgan thru. them. and also ISI want them for their activities in Kashmir as the whole network of terriosts in the world are with Al-quade.Because pakistan cannot expect a peaceful and prosperos INDIA & AFGANISTAN. because it feels very insecured with that and they want to destablise both the countries thru. terrorisium.

Gen. Musharraf is only following in the footsteps of a long line of dictators who consider themselves infallible. With the west scared into the false belief, that the General is the last bastion between extremists and nuclear weapons. NATO effort must include clean up operations INSIDE pakistan followed up by mandatory mental and educational rehabilitation for all in that region. While Pakistans existence must be held contingent to their unlimited support with stiff penalties if found cheating in that effort. Also arrest any saudi funders royal family linked or otherwise.
That Pakistan is an Islamic State is a fact. Pakistan has to accomodate all shades of Islam whether of the moderate variety or of the extreme variety. The Jehadists, who represent the extremist face of the religious interpretation have already declared the US as the enemy and have taken up arms to fight the US and its NATO allies. In order that Pakistan becomes a true ally of the US, it has to represent the moderate opinion among its people and isolate the extremists not only physically but also from their own religion. This is a tall order and the balancing act that Mr Musharraf is indulging; cavorting with the angels while supping with the Devil is destined to rebound on him. Only time will tell when. He has to take sides one way or the other as the ground situation worsens for the US. At present the US does not find anyone more suitable than the General to take on the Taliban so they would consider him their best bet.
US will realize its folly soon. For them countries like Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, etc are allys. They have forgotten so soon that almost all the perpetrators of 9/11 were from these 2 countries, with active support from their governments.
