Need to Privatize
by karthik gokare on Feb 27, 2007 02:09 PM  Permalink

Its really pathetic. The Government is not all interested in R&D.They are more concerned playing dirty politics like reservation.

Look at china.they are investing huge money on R&D.Chinese economy is driven by passionate Entrepreneur.

There are 100 institutes related to R&D under the umbrella of CSIR.bu the no of patents resulting from them is very few.this clearly shows the problem these institutes are facing.

Its high time they come out with concrete strategy to resolve this issue.

if such an institution is established, i am sure there are tonnes of people around the world who wants to come back and join a good institution. But at the same time, there has to be some strict/blunt methods to select people. I would say merit is the only criteria to be adopted in selecting people.

It is required to regulate things in a certain way. Also, is required good institutes(sans quotas) at postgraduate level which will train people or help them specialise.

People get excellent pay packages in US/UK/Saudi countries. Whereas in europe the taxes are high and anyhow you dont retain anythign too big in hand. People working here are more due to the work environment and oppurtunity to work with a "good" pay package. So it will be possible to directly tap those talents atleast, incase of pay packages better than what they are today good working oppurtunity.

The point is also about absorbing in all sectors based on merit. If you give say teachers based on caste/creed/religion/monetary e.t.c. then defenitely you are not going to have good teachers to bring good students. I wish this quoto system goes off. - RP

yes there is definitely very huge pay scale gap between companies and govt institutes in R&D sectors or even in any other sector.. In govt institutes pays are just 1/4th or 1/5th of that for company pays. If this does not change then tomorrow we have to shut down all the govt R&D facilities, which is very bad for country
