One more scrap will be added to the junk yard
by Sam T on Feb 26, 2007 03:11 PM  Permalink

so many laws and interpretations, courts and advocates themselves cannot track

End of the day only the money and lathi/gun power matters (at least in 99.9 % of cases)

Shame on the system...... it cannot find who killed the thousands of shiks in 84 riots and it is still investigating it ..

It could not find from where the hell shukram got crores of CASH and still invistigates sibu sorens bribery case.

So all laws , rules are bullshit.... if you are influncial, no one can do any harm to you..

God save the country and countrymen

Great Move
by Comman Man on Feb 26, 2007 03:03 PM  Permalink

This is very good move by Govt as it was needed in this changing time. apart from this, it needs to be ensured that it will be implemented equally to men and women

Good step

Men who complain of unequal nature of the laws must also realise that this is a crime that can be only committed by men and never , never mind stories like "Aitraz" and "Disclosure". Women may be intellectually equal to men - a civilized society must provide mechanisms which are strong enough to protect women physically. Men who show respect to women and treat them as equals in professional and personal relationships will never fear such laws. Yes - it will be threatening to people who come from a culture where they see men as bullies and they anyway do not deserve any sympathy.

Hi Anurag,

More than 95% of dowry cases are made-up. Women use it to take revenge. There should be a clause to severely punish those who misuse such laws.

everything is rape, now on
by samson lawrence on Feb 26, 2007 03:01 PM  Permalink

not only penetration, looking is rape, smiling is rape....
So Indian girls are something abnormal, they need draconian rules for protection. But will that be enough, or will someone discover a machine that can guess thinking and even thinking gets punished? I think we need that first, without thinking, there wouldnt be action.
So far so good. Now who will protect the women who go to the 24 hour police cell at say, midnight?
Come on now, be practical. Rape is voilence, unless you have something that will remove voilent tendencies in people, how do you stop these activities? Who cares about punishment if you have the connections and money power?
There is a need to teach girls self defence from childhood itself. No need to stress proper education.
And it is ridiculous we keep on defining and redefining things, amending laws, making things more complicated when we cant implement the existing laws properly.
And enough is enough we have taken for a ride too long. We dont want to rape anyone but we also dont want stupid suggestions like this to rape our intelligence.

RE:what do you mean crap NCW?
by Rothin Bose on Feb 26, 2007 03:06 PM  Permalink
Exactly i a man walks in to a police station to report sexual assualt on him by say his female boss, he will be a laughing stock, and people will mock at him. But the fact is women in position of power are more cunning/diplomatic/demanding than men counterparts. Is she wants to use her subordinate for satisfying her unfulfilled sexual needs, she would do it in such a meticulous way that the man concerned afterwards will feel equally used/harrassed as a women in similar situation.

Prevent misuse also
by Prasad Vedak on Feb 26, 2007 02:49 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

While it is agreed that punishment should be given to the guilty person, provision of punishment should be made for misuse of law also. Will this be done?

i agree with you. just as every coin has two faces similary the issue has dual implications, while its true that the wrong doers should be punished without any mercy but at the same time is there any machinery to check misutilisation of these laws. Boys beware... next is bird watchin under purview of rape laws.
