Justice shud be done to the victim
by kommera kumar on Feb 22, 2007 03:39 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

I salute the girl's courage to write a letter to the President. I appreciate rediff.com for putting up the story on its website. It is a shameful fact but raping and threatening the victim with dire consequences are a normal thing in our country. The entire social apparatus is mired with sex and caste based violence. The President should order the home ministry to look into the matter and bring the culprits to justice. I also urge the news channels to take up the issue so that anyone who thinks of inciting such a crime on any girl should fear of being exposed on national television.

she's not a model...
by Lucifer Sam on Feb 22, 2007 03:38 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

oh! she is not a model or a filmstar, will the media really work up a frenzy like it did when "injustice" was meted out to Jessica Lall? Will anyone give this incident any thought a day after this report moves off the rediff main page? Will the Times Nows, NDTVs, CNN-IBNs cry hoarse and sponsor candle light vigils for justice for this 16 year old? I dont think so...
So why this pretense of caring for the underdog?

I completely agree with you.Captalizing on celebrity news is the only thing that the media knows very well say highlighting the rubbish news like marriages between any bollywood personalities who are junk to the hard core society and it needs the news that will easily be carried to the public.I flays the media role in such issues.

That girl should get a justice for indian govenment. but sorry sister it will take too much time. and rapist will enjoy in jail because police provide him all facility.

Please handover this case to islamic sharia. Rapist will be definatly hanged. that girl will get proper justice. just try to impliment this rule (sharia). this type of crime rate will automaticaly come down.

Please do not bring Islamic Sharia in this case . We have noted that a rapist has been equated as the husband . As such the directive to raped was to treat rapist F'-in-law as husband and the real husband as ... Sorry we cannot digest this argument.

The founder od Islam Muhammad himself raped the captive girls in his custody. where is the talk of justice through stupid sharia??
why don't you go to saudi arabia?? and see how your filthy sheiks are raping imported indian girls and converting them to islam. do you condemn them?? this is India and it is a democracy. punishment should be according to international standards and not according to the barbaric sharia standards.

Hello dastagir,
What happened to gang rape cases in Pakistan where Islam is the state religion. He can be very well hanged in India too if the politicians are not bothering about votes. Don't praise the barbarian syastem.

Yes, I know. The girl should produce 2 persons as witness of the incident (which is impossible) as per prevailing Islamic laws failing which it is not proved that rape had taken place. Better still, in that law rapist can accept the rape, marry the girl and then give talaak almost instantly.... :(.. Just the way how Arabs use the prostitutes in India/Pakistan/Bangladesh.. They marry the prostitute, use them as sex machines, and give talaak before leaving India..

Rape should be treated as a very serious offence and the culprit should be subjected to the same kind of torture as underwent by the innocent teen who is contemplating killing herself. Who knows she would hav had a brilliant future ahead of her. Mr President pls do act fast and teach a bitter lesson to men who resort to atrocities of this kind. Anyway they will pay the price for their sins one fine day when they reach upstairs. May the kid win her battle. God bless her

Where comes the religion here. I think it is better to discuss the issue and not the religion.
When we abolish the "thalak" we will bring down the count of marriages for a single.

by ranjeet mohanty on Feb 22, 2007 03:38 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

It's not only the president but we as citizens of this country have to wakeup. We as a citizen of this country should be responsible and should have the guts like the hapless girl who has guts to fight for her rights even after being humiliated as such.

The culprits should be given capital punishment vide a fast track court.

biharis please wake up and save your bihar
by Rothin Bose on Feb 22, 2007 03:31 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

First of all a big salute to the victim, really hats off for the courage shown by the girl to deal with the "B____D" in the right way. Now we need to look at these things from a broader perspective as well. I believe it is also the incompetency of the local police/judiciary/society which has led to the letter being written straighway to The President, which signifiies that the girl has no belief in the local police or judiciary or CM OF BIHAR/ GOVERNER OF BIHAR or anybody else (local) for that matter. It is really a shame on Bihar(People/Society/Police/Judiciary/Government) which produced intellectuals like Dr. Rajendra Prasad (1st President of Independent India). I think nobody else but local Bihari People should bring these criminals to justice as shown in the movie "Gangajaal".

I am very much sure that nothing less than capital punishment is what even our H'ble President to think suitable for people like Jimmy.

So Biharis for your own sake, wake up and save dignity of your Bihar, which has a glorious history of Gautam Buddha, Chandragupta Maurya,.....Dr. Rajendra Prasad and so on.
