Recently a well known pakistani journalist has described Aurangazeb's as "A 17th century fundo who was more murderous than what Osama bin Laden and Mullah Omar combined are". With this description it is so terrifying that this man has ruled India once. Better bury the history.

this can happen only in india.right from our exixtence we r meant to be tolerant n to be forgive n forget. take simply Prithviraj Chauhan, when Ghauri attacked through afghanistan,he defeated him n enslaved him,but was forgived and allowed to go when even his brother and all his commanders were against this decision. on getting a second chance for life Ghauri made another attack thus capturing Chauhan(as rajputs do not fight in the night).instead of letting him leave,Ghauri did the right thing and gauged his eyes, looted somnath temple and took him to afghanistan, where Chauhan killed him in a very bravado fashion which is still a folklore in rajasthan and i still cherish that thing.
My point is in war we should not forgive or forget. even asoka applied to buddhism where after all the bloodshed happened to his brothers because of him and he then denied everything where his duty was to complete and respect the sacrifice of his brothers and sisters died in this war.
This is indeed an excellent article.... Why there should be apprehensions if truth is coming out.... Just accept the facts....and srive for better tomottow.
I would appeal Muslims in India to visit Indonesia and learn how Islam is practiced there.
1. Most of the Indonesians got converted to Islam in the 15th century.
2. Inspite of having been converted, they still retain their Hindu identities. A large majority of Indonesian muslims possess Hindu names. To name a few, Names such as Vishnu, Arjun, Cinta (Seeta), Laksmi, Gatot (Ghatotkach) are common within the muslims in Indonesia. They are proud of their past heritage.
2. Indonesia has many Hindu temple. Even after converting to Islam, they have not destroyed their temples unlike the moghul kings. The Indonesians consider these as their heritage.
3. Indonesian muslims have good appreciation for Ramayana and Mahabharat. Excerts from these epics are taught even today in the muslim majority country.
Why can't any of the muslims in India follow these practices. Remember that like the Indonesian muslims, most of you were Hindus, a few generations ago.

Even former Indonesian president Sukarno's daughter who also became the first woman president of Indonesia is named Megawati Sukarnoputri which is as hindu a name as can be.
Islam is a way of life that God(Allah in Arabic) prescribed for all mankind(not muslims alone). It has also been ordained in the Holy Quran that the religion(Islam) has been perfected, and hence no need for change.
Why judge islam through Aurangazeb's behavior... if you want to judge, then choose our beloved Prophet whose behavior was influenced by God's sayings.

You may be right. But if today's muslims associate themselves and take pride in the misdeeds of aurangzeb and mahmood gazanabi then who is at fault.
Even britishers stopped cherishing the clives and other setans who were symbols of imperialistic brutality.
Muslims have to come forward and must disown the barbarians and should look to east (indonesia) and middle east for bright future of co-existence and development of their society

Islam can not be prescribed for all mankind. Because it is the cruelest religion which can not be the riligion of human being.
Aurengzeb was a cruel ruler who killed several innocent people who objected to his forceful conversions to islam.
I simply do not understand why we have roads like "Aurangzeb Road", Delhi named after him. There were several other prominent figures like Subhash Chandra Bose, Shaheed Bhagat Singh, who were an intricate part of our Freedom Struggle
I think we should leave the past and think for our future we should live together and grow together.....In india Muslims are nothing without Hindus n Hindus are nothing without Muslims....Our coming generation should learn good things not bout the gap between various religious which we had in the past, they should learn how to live together!!....and i beg rediff to stop these kind of shits which doesnt go with its image!!

we agree or dispute that is the reality.
Nothing has happened after babris demolition and after a few riots. you come in 2050 and see this will the status.
we understand that there had been mistakes committed by tyrannic rulers in the past. But how come u expect us to recity those mistakes done by those barbaric rulers.
Do you think what those cruel rulers did few centuries back and you educated modern people can be equated.
We educated humans of 21st century must show civilised behaviour.

I was trying to figure out why shiv sena is full of hindu fundamentalists. Now I got it when you say,"In the Maratha empire these Muslim conversions were treated in a right manner by beheading and cuttingthe limbs of these muslim as well as christian missionaries". Ask your soul if it was justified before advocating the right inhuman way. I am an Indian ...i am not a hindu, muslim, jew, sikh or christian...i have my faith ..i believe in religion..i believe in god.... But my religion does not tell me to harm other human beings....Humanity is my cast and my only religion...
A country with a long history like ours will have both good and bad. There are no sides here. One nation and its history. Let us, as a society have the maturity and courage to face our past. Truth has its beauty and we should enjoy it.
