People in India get easily played on communa lines
by huzefa hakimi on Feb 17, 2007 01:51 AM  Permalink  | Hide replies

Elections coming close in most of the Hindi heart land and all the bull-shit again getting aired. To the author of this article, most of the facts are already covered in History books. I see your article more towards inicting communal feelings which you guys do most of the time with our fellow Indians. Why did it took so long and at a time when elections are close???

I am Muslim too and we consider Aurangzeb as one of the bad guys too.

Regarding VH comment, beauty in Islam is it does not need to get evolved with time. Would you sat Gods and truth should keep evolving with time. Use brains...

Yes Islam does not need to evolve with time and not changing it with times is what makes it pure. Neither did Bible nor Torah needed to evolved with time. People of other religions think adapting religion & their scriptures to new conditions is called modernization and civilized, even at cost of negating original teachings. If people believe that their religion has sayings of God, so why would people themselves start modifying the teaching on their own. A question to ponder, who claim Islam needs to change with time.

It is true that today Islam is going through its worse period because of misuse of Islam's name by some nutty extremist, but I have full faith and believe in end, whtever means whoever employs to malign Islam, Islam will emerge as how our Prophet and their Ahle-Bhets preached Islam -> as religion of truth, prosperity, and peace.

dont speak without doing research, whatever you heard about aurangazeb is hatred and lies spread by the right wing hindutva, if you want real knowledge do more research start with indianmuslims.info, let me ask you a small thing, if shivaji was so great why did he attack gorilla type , why not face to face like a man, because he was a coward. Aurangazeb did not behead him when he captured twice, you know why, because he wanted him to have a fair trial, even a coward who attacked from behind. this is the greatness of this guy, yet the hindu historians malign him. one thing no many people know is that even though he was a king, he earned his livlihood by writing Quran and selling copies of it by a fictious name, why because if the people found out that the copy was written by the king, the value of the book would be sky high, this my friend is true aurangazeb. May Allah grant him peace and jannah

so all islam pro will recall him as great and anti islam will call him bad.
thats what is history. no one can write a balanced history. thats the beauty of history we have to believe what we want to. proofs are all over the places for good and bad both

I think this fnatic foreign author is in India to creat communal tension. As a kid in the scool I have learned that the said ruler was a intolerent that he was the main cause of the demise of Mughal Empire. I would advise this french author to go to France and use his pen against the discriminations against the Hindus, Muslims and blacks there. Any way he is doomed ti failiure there as the French are the most arrogant people I have ever seen. But it is worth doing than teaching the ancient civilisation of the world, India teaching its history, religion and civilization!

In ancient Greece (469 - 399 BC), Socrates was widely lauded for his wisdom.

One day the great philosopher came upon an acquaintance that ran up to him excitedly and said, "Socrates, do you know what I just heard about one of your students called Plato?"

"Wait a moment," Socrates replied. "Before you tell me I'd like you to pass a little test. It's called the Triple Filter Test".

"Triple filter?"

"That's right," Socrates continued. "Before you talk to me about my student let's take a moment to filter what you're going to

say. The first Filter is Truth. Have you made absolutely sure that what you are about to tell me is true?" "No," the man said, "actually I just heard about it and..."

"All right," said Socrates. "So you don't really know if it's true or not. Now let's try the second filter, the Filter of Goodness. Is what you are about to tell me about my student something good?"

"No, on the contrary..."

"So," Socrates continued, "you want to tell me something bad about him, even though you're not certain it's true?" The man shrugged, a little embarrassed.

Socrates continued. "You may still pass the test though, because there is a third filter - the Filter of usefulness. Is what you

want to tell me about my student going to be useful to me?"

"No, not really..."

"Well," concluded Socrates, "if what you want to tell me is neither True nor Good, nor even Useful, why tell it to me at all?" The man was defeated and ashamed.

This is the reason Socrates was a great philosopher and held in such high esteem.

Interesting discussion
by Talib Hussain on Feb 17, 2007 12:23 AM  Permalink

really interesting discussion and informative notes from readers.
religiously I also belong to one of the shia sects of islam in india and probably we are converts from shudras to islam- better than being untaouchabe. in our religiousl history they say that one of our religious head was put in boiling oil as he did not follow the islam of aurangzeb!!
now a couple of things to observe according to me( maybe m right maye wrong as u see it)
a) we have to remember that aurangzeb was also a ruler of state so he has to also play politics, even in todays democracy we have BJP,shiv sena, muslim league etc etc. if congress is in power sena says muslims leave india, if sena is in power they dont talk about it. bottom line if u are ruling a state u play politics maybe he used religion as a main tool to rule!!
b) i dont say this religion is right that is wrong, but if as someone said indian muslim dont be ignorant etc, than though i personally like the hindu philospphy but idol worship is a bit wierd, so we can also say that we indians should also not be ignorant and stop ages old aryan rituals of millions of gods created, if we search what is reality and what is more true to believe.
c) i totally agree that there should not be any restrictions to such exhibitions. we need total truth. but its important how we digest it. our society needs to understand it and handle it properly. Ihope tomorrow some political parties dont come up with new idea to destroy some mosques or some muslim organisations dont come up with stupid protests against the expo. learn understand and improve the society.
d) hope there is some expo about akbar i dont know much about his good or bad deeds either.

Shivaji : Anti Muslim?
by Mohammed Osman on Feb 17, 2007 12:07 AM  Permalink

Similarly Shivaji is also presented as an Anti-Muslim king. This is far

from truth. His army, especially Navy had many a Muslim soldiers and

his lieutenant Siddi Sambal is very famous for his association with

Shivaji. Similarly his confidential secretary was Maulana Haider Ali, and

the person who helped him to escape from Agra fort captivity was a

Muslim Prince Madari Mehtar. He had great regard for a Sufi Saint

Hazrat Baba Bahutthorwale and Fr. Ambrose Pinto of Surat. In front of

his fort in Raigad, while on one hand, he constructed Jagdishwar temple,

similarly he also got a mosque built. He had instructed his armies that

during their plunder campaigns if they came across some holy book, they

should not defile it but instead return it to the person belonging to that

religion. A story is told about his army plundering Kalyan and during the

plunder raids, his army abducted the beautiful daughter-in-law of the

Subedar of Kalyan. This Muslim woman, it is told, was presented to

Shivaji as a gift. Deviating from the practices of other kings, Shivaji got

annoyed with his army and equated the women to his mother. He

ordered his generals to send her back with honor to her husband%u2019s

house. Can such a person be labeled as anti-Muslim by any stretch of

imagination?
