Aurangzeb, one of the greatest of the Mogul emperors of Hindustan, was the third son of Shah Jahan, and was born in November 1618. His original name, Mahommed, was changed by his father, with whom he was a favorite, into Aurangzeb, meaning ornament of the throne, and at a later time he assumed the additional titles of Mohi-eddin, reviver of religion, and Alam-gir, conqueror of the world.
At a very early age, and throughout his whole life, he manifested profound religious feeling, perhaps instilled into him in the course of his education under some of the strictest Mahommedan doctors. He was employed, while very young, in some of his father's expeditions into the country beyond the Indus, gave promise of considerable military talents, and was appointed to the command of an army directed against the Uzbeks. In this campaign he was not completely successful, and soon after was transferred to the army engaged in the Deccan. Here he gained several victories, and in conjunction with the famous general, Mir Jumla, who had deserted from the king of Golconda, he seized and plundered the town of Hyderabad, which belonged to that monarch.
His father's express orders prevented Aurangzeb from following up this success, and, not long after, the sudden and alarming illness of Shah Jahan turned his thoughts in another direction. Of Shah Jahan's four sons, the eldest, Dara, a brave and honourable prince, but disliked by the Muslims on account of his liberality of thought, had a natural right to the throne. Accordingly, on the illness of his father, he at once seized the reins of government and established himself at Delhi. The second son, Shuja, governor of Bengal, a dissolute and sensual prince, was dissatisfied, and raised an army to dispute the throne with Dara. The keen eye of Aurangzeb saw in this conjuncture of events a favorable opportunity for realising his own ambitious schemes.
His religious exercises and temperate habits gave him, in popular estimation, a great superiority over his brothers, but he was too politic to put forward his claims openly. He made overtures to his younger brother Murad, governor of Gujarat, representing that neither of their elder brothers was worthy of the kingdom, that he himself had no temporal ambition, and desired only to place a fit monarch on the throne, and then to devote himself to religious exercises and make the pilgrimage to Mecca. He therefore proposed to unite his forces to those of Murad, who would thus have no difficul

it can be summed as-
1.he was so great that moghul dynasty was over by 1757(precisely 50 yeras after his death.)
2. he had such good control over his empire that he spent 27 yeras quelling rebels which were finally unsucessful and he died some 1000 Kms away from his capital.
3. he had a great respect for human values so that he killed his brothers, his son,imprisioned his father and died alone.
4. he was true to his friends and subordinates like he was to Durga das Rathotr, Sikh , Jats, marathas.
5. he was great warrior had lost kandhar and kashmir twice in his expeditions and one time left battle field in between. he lost to champatrai

The other day I watched om TV ( 60 minutes) that Al-quida is recriuting PPL for the actovities which right now Rafiuddin is carrying out on the web along with many other PPL.Their job is hang on different Website including Jahadi websites and spread hatrism against other religions..... Secondly they try to trap PPL who can become Human Bombs for so called jihad.
So far our Cyber Crime Branch is trying to get some intelligence from this activities in India along with the expert hackers who work for US goverment to track the activities of this sites globally.
But I think I must report all this PPL who are praising Aurungzeb here for antinational activites.Thier other activities must be moniotored constantly.
I appeal to software professionals with necessary skills to form a System where by we can vlutereerly hack this sites and give some fedback to Mumbai Police Anti Terrorist Squad. This will be great service to nation in general.You will have to only spedn few hours every week and we can still make sure this ppl dont make issues in our country.

yeah man. all the guys posting here and praising Aurangzeb gloriously, their IP address must be traced and their biodata can be attained that way. There is a great chance that they support or are going to support anti-national activities like funding terrorists or becoming one to blow themselves. But i am sure how many of them are living right now in India. I think most of them are in some other nation. In any case, it would be good for the authorities to find ways to monitor these things if it is not already doing it. Not a bad idea to monitor people who praise Aurangzeb on an Indian website to do with an article that was supposed to condemn the guy for his barbarism which was directe against Hindus who constitute a majority in India now.

The marxist historians look at everything as a class struggle and make caste the centre of the universe regarding Indian history. This fixation leads to a very distorted interpretation and that is the problem the interpretation. According to them Hinduism is bad because as far as they are concerned its all about caste. Apparently Romila Thappar can't even read Sanskrit and she has written the so called definitive book on early Indian history which is bizarre.

Have you read the Manusmriti ? Most people like to criticize it and point to it as some sort of foundation of Hinduism but I haven't met anyone that has actually read it. Secondly it's not the foundation of Hinduism as you mistakenly believe.

He was most cruel muslim ruler the country ever had. He built many mosques in place of destroyed Hindu shrines. In fact seeds of Hindu fanatics were sown during his era. But all these are matter of our past. In modern time, irrespective of religion every Indian citizen should forget the past and concentrate to work for thed evelopment of our mother land.There should be no place for any sorts of fanaticism.
