Mr. Francois Gautier, you will do a lot good to teach your own the true history of Europe and America. The way the Native Americans were butchered. They were not Christians. Please explain how come close to 100% of the Americans (including the Native Americans) are Christains. What happened to the places of worship and the gods and godesses of the Native Americans? What do you have to say on the Crusades when Pope Urban II called on Christians to drive out the Muslims. There were eight Crusades (between 1095 1272; that is more than two hundred years of barbarity and savagery) and in which Muslims and Jews were massacred. Well, Mr. Gautier, what do you have to say to all these. We are judging a different age with today's standards. Just 10 years back, live-in in India was unthinkable. Today people are actually living-in. Those were barbaric times. I am not justifying, but if you did not massacre in those days you would get massacred. Please stop rekindling the inflames of passion and hatred. Or, probably you cannot see India progressing economically and militarily and are trying put all kinds of roadblock to stop its march toward peace and prosperity by bringing up irrelevant issues. Leave us alone Mr. Gautier. We do not need you to teach us our own history. Thank you. I would have been very happy if you had held an exhibition on India's unity in diversity.
Muhajir is an Arabic term designating a person who has gone on a hajj (the pilgrimage to Mecca, which is mandatory for all Muslims at least once in their lifetime). This term also gained a political overtone when it was applied to the millions of Muslim migrants who crossed the border into Pakistan from India in 1947. The British created Pakistan in 1947 as a homeland for Indian Muslims by separating parts of the Punjab and the Sind from India.
These migrants, or muhajirs, have faced constant discrimination from those who are native to the region and did not need to migrate. This ill will has led to frequent violent outbursts between mujahirs and non-muhajirs, with outright rioting in Sind Province in 1986%u20131987, when the muhajir political party, the MQM (Muhajir Qawmi Mahaz, the Muhajir's People Movement), gained political prominence. The MQM, under its leader Altaf Hussain, sought equal employment opportunities for people of muhajir descent. The political weight of the MQM was felt in the 1988 elections when it became the third-largest party in the Pakistani Assembly. The tensions continued until 1992, when the army moved to crush the MQM. The result was that the entire muhajir community bore the brunt of this violence because it was deemed guilty by association. From 1985 onward, the muhajir identity was politicized.
