AURANGZEB%u2019S RELIGIOUS POLICY

After he became the king, he adopted the policy of converting the whole of India to Islam. He wanted to see only one religion in India and in the world and that was the Sunni sect of Islam. In order to achieve this aim, he revamped the religious policy of his predecessors and made life for Hindus very difficult. Here are some of the examples to prove what he did to the Hindus of that time:

1) When he was the governor of Gujrat, he declared Jihad against non-Muslims. In 1645, he started razing Hindu temples in Gujrat. The famous temple, Chintamani got converted to a Mosque at this time. To humiliate the Hindus, he killed cows in their temples and washed the temples with blood of cows.

2) When he became the governor of South India, he continued his sadistic activities. He destroyed many temples there. Shah Jahan, his father sensed what he was doing there and moved him from there to Afghanistan. As soon as he left South, temples got constructed again. Aurangzeb used to say that if he gets a chance, he would eliminate all temples from India.

3) When he became the king, he doubled the road toll for Hindus while halved it for the Muslims. He was trying to create financial difficulties for the Hindus and at the same time creating incentive for them to become Muslim, by halving the road tolls for Muslims.

4) Most Hindus were employed by the civil department of the government. He passed a bill to ensure that only a Muslim could hold a civil government job. This forced many Hindus to convert to Islam.

5) He issued a decree to all his governors to raze all religious schools of non-Muslims.

6) In August 1669, he destroyed the famous Vishavnaath temple of Banaras and constructed a mosque there. Same year he razed the Gopi Nath temple.

7) The biggest temple of Mathura that was constructed by Nar Singh Bundela, a Rajput king, got razed in 1670. The official name of Mathura was changed to Islamabad.

8) All temples built in the last 10 years were destroyed.

9) Aurangzeb constituted a team of Maulvis and gave them a unit of his army. This group used to go village to village and city to city and destroyed centres of non-Muslims.

10) Lala Daulat Rai, in his book Sahib-e-Kamaal, writes that Hindus were humiliated in various ways. If a Muslim felt like spitting, he had the right to spit in the mouth of a Hindu standing there. If the Hindu refused to open his mouth to accept the spitting of the Muslim, he would get punished by the authorities.

In 1674, Aurangzeb decided to destroy the root of Hinduism. The most educated and strict Hindus lived in Kashmir. He decided to concentrate in that area. Bhai Mani Singh jee Shaheed writes that Aurangzeb thought that Kashmiri Pandits were the most educated Hindus and were also teaching Hindu texts to other Hindus. He decided to bring Kashmir to the fold of Islam.

Sensing this, he dispatched Afghan Khan to got to Kashmir and convert that region to Islam. Afghan Khan used very ruthless means to convert people to Islam. He started razing temples and forcing people to accept Islam. The leader of Kashmiri Pandits, Kirpa Raam, along with other prominent pandits appealed to Aurangzeb to stop the aggression but their pleas fell on deaf ears. Then these pandits went to many Rajput and other Hindu kings for help but everyone expressed helplessness. No religious leader in India was willing to help them. Finally they decided to come to Guru

AURANGZEBS DESPICABLE ACTS : Reference http://www.sikhlionz.com
by wada pav on Mar 30, 2007 03:07 AM  Permalink

1) He killed his 3 brothers to claim the throne of India. He first killed Dara Shikoh, his eldest brother. Muraad, his second brother, who had helped him against Dara Shikoh, was poisoned by him and thus murdered. His other brother Shujaah ran away to Iran, for he was scared of him. Later he also got murdered by Aurangzeb.

2) His sister Roshan Aara, who loved him very much and helped him get the throne too could not escape the paranoia of Aurangzeb. She was slow-poisoned to death by this sadist king.

3) His father, suffered immensely in his prison. He imprisoned his father and did not even provide the most basic necessities to his father. When his father wished to be placed by a window, from where he could view his wife%u2019s Mumtaz Mahal%u2019s tomb %u2013 Taj Mahal, Aurangzeb refused. His father stayed in his prison for many years.

4) He killed his eldest son Sultan Muhammad, when he was only 36 years old. He feared that his son may revolt against him. He poisoned him.

5) His another son Prince Akbar, fled to Iran, fearing his death.

6) His last son Muazzam who later became his sucessor, stayed in his father%u2019s jail for 7 years because Aurangzeb suspected that his son would overthrow him.

7) He most trusted friend and general, Raja Jai Singh, suffered at his hands. He poisoned him to death.

8) He prohibited a saint like Murtaza Vayeez from even doing 5 times prayer, because he had criticized the administration of Aurangzeb.

WHAT DO ISLAMS HOLY BOOKS SAY ABOUT JIZIYA ?
by wada pav on Mar 30, 2007 03:05 AM  Permalink

Well first of all Jiziya was not a war tax at all , it was a tax to humiliate non-muslims.

it can't be compared to war taxes imposed by rajputs, the rajput tax used to applied before war to raise additional money for preparing for war with muslims.it was for the countrys defence.while jiziya was an extortion. it was paid to save oneself from being killed or forcibly converted to islam.when payment of jiziya ceased, jihad resumed.

iam quoting a few verses from islams holy books:

Sura 9:29

------------------

stipulates that jizya be exacted from non-Muslims as a condition required for jihad to cease. Failure to pay the jizya could result in the pledge of protection of a dhimmi's life and property becoming void, with the dhimmi facing the alternatives of conversion, enslavement or death (or imprisonment, as advocated by Abu Yusuf, the chief qadi %u2014 religious judge %u2014 of Abbasid caliph Harun al-Rashid).

Ibn Kathir on Sura 9:29,

---------------------

writes that dhimmis must be:

disgraced, humiliated and belittled. Therefore, Muslims are not allowed to honor the people of the dhimma or elevate them above Muslims, for they [dhimmis] are miserable, disgraced, and humiliated.[107]

Al-Muwatta

--------------

Book 17, Number 17.24.46 states that Umar ibn Abd al-Aziz relieved those who converted to Islam from paying jizya. It also gives the sunnah on those who must pay jizya, principally non-Muslim males who have reached puberty, rather than zakat, as zakat is for the purpose of purifying Muslims, whereas jizya is for the purpose of humbling non-Muslims. It also outlines the additional jizya travelling traders must pay, and the rationale for that.

Al-Zamakhshari

----------------

, a Mutazili author of one of the standard commentaries on the Quran,[21] said that "the Jizyah shall be taken from them with belittlement and humiliation. The dhimmi shall come in person, walking not riding. When he pays, he shall stand, while the tax collector sits. The collector shall seize him by the scruff of the neck, shake him, and say "Pay the Jizyah!" and when he pays it he shall be slapped on the nape of the neck."[21]

Al-Mawardi (the famous Shafii jurist of Baghdad)

-------------------------------------------------

, stated in al-Ahkam as-Sultaniyyah (The Laws of Islamic Governance) that jizya is paid by the enemy in return for peace, and if the payment of jizya ceases, then jihad is resumed.[9]

Sayyid Abul Ala Maududi's Chapter Introductions to the Quran :

-----------------------------------------------------------

states that Muslims were enjoined to tolerate the misguidance of non-Muslims only to the extent that they might have the freedom to remain mi

Converts please shut up
by G S on Mar 30, 2007 02:28 AM  Permalink

The western evnagelical and neo-budhdhist are making use of division in hindu society and preaching hatred. Esp. amount of venom these guys spew against hindus makes u wonder what hindus(including dalits) have done to get this.

We must fight for making this caste boundary dissappear and make them eat their mouth. This has started happening and it is not very far that hindus will be united and stronger. We have survived so many invasions, few of these converts can not challenge us. Let us join hands all caste and work towars unity.

We do not want to interfere in their religion and similarly we also don't want interference in ours.

Kashmiri Pandits approach Guru Teg Bahadur for help
by wada pav on Mar 30, 2007 12:04 AM  Permalink

Kashmiri Pandits approach Guru Teg Bahadur for help

After getting frustrated by the inhuman cruelties committed by Iftihar Khan, Kashmiri Pandits decided to approach great nationalist, Shri Guru Teg Bahadur, at Anandpur Sahib in Punjab for help, about 500 Pandits, under the leadership of Pandit Kripa Ram, met Guru Teg Bahadur. Giani Gurja Singh has given an account of the appeal of Pandits to the Guru. He has written:

(Guru Teg Bahadur, son of Guru Hargobind, we have now no strength. Take us by our arm. You are world reformer, you are a prophet of Guru Nanak, just as Lord Krishna saved the honour of misfortune-stricken Draupdi and shaped and smoothened the work of his beloved Sudama, similarly you are the current Krishna to set right things. Kindly fulfil the hopes of the people. You will remain immortal).

The delegation from Kashmir, under the leadership of Pandit Kripa Ram, narrated their condition to acquaint Guru Teg Bahadur of the situation in Kashmir.

An account of this pity-inspring story has been given by Giani Gian Singh in his book "Shri Guru Granth Prakash" whose translation is published in September issue of the Weekly Panchjanya in 1991 and this describes the evil deeds of Aurangzeb and Subedar Iftihar Khan.

He has written that the Mughal of Chugtai dynasty, Aurangzeb, is highly wicked. Being drunk he has occupied the throne of Delhi. He does not recognise the power of God in relation to the non-Muslims. This cruel person has willed to do evil deeds. He wants to dye the entire India in the colour of his religion and Islamise it. This proud and arrogant person has ordered demolition of all temples of deities without any delay. He wanted to finish ancient customs and religious and pious policies. He would not allow worship of deities, ancestors, God, prayers and association with saints and sages. Propagation of Puranic tales, importance of pilgrimages and worship of deities have all been finished. On the other Aide construction of mosques and propagation of the Koran have increased in India. It is not known what shape the future will take ?

Through allurement and atrocities he has converted many Hindus to Islam. Many Hindus have been polluted after their sacred thread and vermillion were removed. This way a big misfortune has gripped the Hindus in India. It gives immense pain. There is no parallel to his cruelty. He removes 1.25 maunds of sacred thread daily. These Muslims have plundered honour of everyone. This cruel ruler had forcibly abducted many daughters of Hindus and offered them to cruel people. We all have thought over all these misfortunes and have come to your refuge for the protection of the religion of the land. Now you alone can save us.
