Strange moderation of comments
by on Feb 07, 2007 09:45 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

I visited this article today and wanted to see the comments. Since a lot of them have been deleted, I was trying to figure out what they said. Oddly, it appears as though comments that bash the author have been retained, and those that support him have been deleted. Does this imply a certain intolerance among Rediff's thought police? Are they promoting -- horrors -- censorship of what they do not like? Whatever happened to freedom of speech and other such niceties?

Your message will be deleted soon. But here's a hot tip for you. Get a Muslim name as your 'handle' by signing up on rediffmail.com. Then all your comments will be retained forever. The low-level Rediff flunkeys who scan these messages are true pseudo-seculars, meaning they always assume that anything said by a Muslim is a pearl of wisdom, like in the case of this Imaan above. Imaan will be able to say anything on this bulletin board. His words are all pearls of wisdom. They must be, especially since he is probably a Pakistani.

No one can ban Modi coming to Kerala
by Larsen Keats on Feb 07, 2007 04:51 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

People can scream and shout but no one can ban an Indian going to another place in India for any purpose whatsoever, as long as it is not apriori proven or known that it is for criminal purposes. The ban needed is on Bangladeshis entering India; on dirty Pakistanis entering India with an intent on harming India. How come we don't see such bans in our system? Kerala guys are simply pervert. If they ban Modi, then should Modi ban Keralites from entering Gujarat? This ain't working, guys.

In fact Modi was banned from entering Kerala just a few months ago. There was no particular reason given. The government of Kerala just banned him. Despite all the negative publicity given to him by the English media, Modi is probably India's best chief minister. Oddly enough, he was far quicker to call the army into Gujarat than Rajiv Gandhi was to call the army into Delhi when 10,000 Sikhs were massacred in 1984. But then who cares about facts? It's all about propaganda, isn't it?

Height of exaggeration. I know that Rajeev generally uses exaggeration and lies as his weapons while writing columns, but now I see that he has been successful in garnering support of so many educated illiterates who have over-taken him when it comes to exaggeration.

Suicide bombings were invented by the so called peacful HINDUS: Members of LTTE!!!

Indians seem to have short memories: India Prime Minister was Blown to Shreds by a Hindu Suicide Bomber and not a Muslim!!!

As for Sreenivasan he is another Islamophobic Hate Monger like the members of the parivar!!!

Also, suicide bombings were invented by Arabs against Israel. Muslims get full credit for this, and certainly for inventing the 72 virgin story.

Yes Sir ... Rajeev sees beyond normal Indians. He is an abnormal Indian. His only job in life is to repeat the same stuff again and again so that it can be considered a historical fact after a few years. However, I can see that he has been successful in spreading hatred among people. He has mastered the art of spreading hatred against muslims. But it's unfortunate that people fall into his trap so easily.

religious persecution in Malaysia
by Antony George on Feb 07, 2007 09:32 AM  Permalink

actually the statement is true, just that the government controlled media is too scared to report. the media both print and television (channels not owned by the government) have to get lisence every year to function and if they showcase any wrong doings of the gvt, it takes just one officer to ensure that the lisence is revoked. it has been used, but mostly missused. unfortunatly in malaysia the religious seems to have greater power than the highest judicila body- the high court, and there has been instances where the High court has had to abide to the decision of the religious court. there is a debate also going on whether that nation is a moslem country or a country where there islam is the offical religion. what is the difference between these two i dont know, but it seems really Weird. the present leadership seems to have accepted the multireligious nature of the country but the problem is with the future who has already shown signs or staunch islamic malay rule in the lines of countries like iran. But the problem is that the countrys economy is this strong due to efforts of the indian and chineese communities which is getting jittery due to the statements that are made by the youth malay leaders. what happens in that nation- only time will tell, and by the way the present Indian UPA govt seems to have no, absolutly no intrest in the welfare of indian nationals in malaysia. looks like they are just happy to see indian nationals being killed at the hands of these malays.

"Many Indians have a knee-jerk preference for the Democrats, but I can guarantee that Hillary Rodham Clinton and Barack Hussein Obama aren't exactly lying awake nights figuring out how to work with India."

What is the point that you are trying to make here? Why would a presidential candidate of United States spend sleepless nights thinking about India? America has its own problems to take care of first and that includes the war in Iraq.

That's the point he's making. They don't care what Indians do with Iraq or Iran. They are too busy trying to win the elections (the same goes to the republicans as well). So we don't have pretend like we are the politically correct lot (as if that would please the the potential winners - democrats).

When some thing comes on head then we realise oh some thing happened. we blame others for the mishap,If some one have really faced the situation ask them they will comment about truth, Sikhs, hindus from pakistan, and Bangladesh.
We need self respect.Instead of asking what is hinduism ? one thing i say it is self respect and respect others. In case of minorities, there is problem with the govt ruled past 60 yrs, they have utilised word called secular for their own benifit.Minorities attack hindus.why cant hindus. We are not realizing the real problems ahead in india.

There is a difference between other Minorities and Muslims. Other Minorities adapt, they respect the sentiments of the maojority. Indeed Indian Sikhs and Christians are proud citizens. They realize they are born and brought up here. But sadly our muslim brothers put Religion above everything else. That's the problem. They are so quick to point out Majority retaliations but I would appreciate if they condemn the very provocative and terrorist acts which led to it first. Alas, they are so insensitive to deaths of Innocent 'Kaffirs'????

How about you first casting of your castism, Muslim apologist Shameer? How about allowing your women to have an education, a life, some control over their bodies? Your Dalits are the women, 50% of your population. You might want to advice others once you have liberated your women. It is only in India that a Muslim woman could become a Supreme Court justice. Pigs will fly before this happens in a Muslim country. Nice try at taqiya, brother Shammer.

It sounds pretty sick. u cud use better language to convey he same thing.. instead of conveying strategy, which wud be the intelligent thing to do, u seem to be spewing hate. Oops! Yes. I obviously missed the sarcasm in Mr. Srinivasan's assertion that nurturing a bloody civil war between two populous Islamic factions is the best option for Americans. I suppose I was thrown off by the fact that he rambles endlessly about Muslim tyranny, Commie/Secularist incompetence and lost Hindu pride and glory in most of his articles. Sorry. I was somehow deluded into believing that Mr. Srinivasan has a strong pro-Hindu, anti-Muslim bias and that he was, perhaps, even tickled pink by the prospect of large "Mohammadean fundamentalist" populations butchering each other in Iraq. My bad.

Sarcasm, schmarcasm. The US and the UK have in the past planned and condoned large-scale genocide on many groups. It is certainly not beyond their ability to plan something like this for Muslims especially since they are worried about Muslims hurting them. Whatever Mr. Srinivasan's biases, don't shoot the messenger: consider that the message may in fact be close to reality.
