40 MPs of TN has to urge center to add this verdict in central govt's Gazette. SOZ has already agreed to register this verdict in the gazette. Well done SOZ. You are doing the duty which Indian Constituion has given to you.

Soon we would see this verdict in Indian Gazette. Jai HIND.

Soz gives ultimatum to Karnataka
Wednesday February 7 2007 12:50 IST

CHENNAI: Union Minister for Water Resources, Saifuddin Soz on Tuesday said the Union government would make the gazette notification of the Cauvery Tribunal%u2019s final verdict if Karnataka did not file an appeal within the grace period of 90 days.

Talking to newspersons at the airport here on his arrival from New Delhi, Soz said the Tribunal%u2019s verdict, on Monday, was as good as the verdict of the Supreme Court. %u201CBut concerned states should be given a chance to appeal to the Tribunal for a review of the award before its implementation,%u201D he pointed out.

Soz also assured that the Centre will ensure the constitution of a regulatory authority soon to implement the final verdict of the Cauvery Tribunal.

Asked about the time frame for the implementation of the Tribunal%u2019s award, Soz said, %u201Call these things will take a year%u2019s time and by then, the final decree will also come.%u201D

Asked about the Centre%u2019s course of action if Karnataka refused to implement the order, Soz wondered how Karnataka could refuse.

On the Andhra Pradesh government%u2019s proposal to construct a dam across the Palar river in Kuppam, the Union Minister said he was unaware of the developments and it was for the two governments to sort out the issue.

Soz said that he had come to Tamil Nadu to discuss with officials measures to recharge the ground water in the State and on the urgent need to create public awareness on rain water harvesting.

Soz was scheduled to meet Chief Minister M Karunanidhi at his residence in Gopalapuram in the city at 5 p m. Soz, however, had clarified upon arrival that they would not discuss political issues and that it would only be a %u201Ccourtesy call%u201D.

Since it was just a day after the final verdict of the Cauvery Tribunal, a posse of journalists and TV crew had gathered near the Chief Minister%u2019s residence to get some reaction from the Union Minister, considering the political nature of the whole issue.

But the scheduled meeting did not take place. One of the Chief Minister%u2019s secretaries later told newsmen that the meeting had been called off.

The people of TN have given a strong verdict by electing 40 MP. They will make this verdict registered in indian gazette. After lets see what the politicians and peoples will do against INDIA and INDIAN UNION?.

If Karnataka or TN or Kerala or Pondicherry didnt respect the new Law registered in the gazette, then they have to face the law.

At that time, Those who violates the law has to shut up.

It is odd that the Tamil Nadu people seem to be rather contented. They were quite vocal lot in some other issues.

Why the Cauvery award is flawed
by a b on Feb 07, 2007 03:02 PM  Permalink

I think proper social justice has been done by the Tribunal.Since Tamil Nadu has more reservation than Karnataka,Tamil Nadu has been allocated more water. After all they need 23 percent water for SC/ST, 50 percent for OBC ,3 percent for Brahmins,so on and so forth.Great Justice done at last

My man Sripathi... the author says the verdict is flawed... it doesn't say that it's against 'karnataka' or in favour of someone else. So let emotions not cloud rationality here

Some show free, democracy etc as lollypops, lollypops works wonders for kids. Some morons dream of free and democracy because, they didn't have their gf or anything better to think of.

My friend, if it is a democracy then I should have right to speak for myself, you are entitled to your opinion whether you live in a democracy.

BTW happy and sad fighting for the injustice. More water to Karnataka. More rains. More water to TN.

Tamil-Kannada is a fight which will keep happening. But there is no need for andhra to fight with Karnataka and Tamil. Neither do these happen: REASON: Telugus are much better entrenched in locally economy, politics, bearucracy. It is in their interest to see that the wheels of business keep turning. Unlike Tamils, who are only white collar pros, telugus generate employment in many sectors--real estate, hotels, bars,construction,trading.... Also be it in Karnataka or Tamilnadu, they don't live in ghettos. In fact they adopt the local lingo and are able to speak with as much fluency if not better than the localites.

Hi kid Rakesh, so you are stuffed with such content and only that much. They can be a banned party here but before India has given everything for them (by Indria Gandhi) and later it was cheated (during Rajiv period). This story is different and better try to speak some useful things regarding the current isssue instead.

Rediff is struggling
by PUMA on Feb 07, 2007 01:24 PM  Permalink

Rediff is struggling to stand firm or not capable to its profession.

1. The article it publishes are in complete or in appropriate or biased. Example is the flash report of caveri tribunals report was given a topic like of a cricket score flash (resembling, Pak Finishes 342 All out, Ind 35/5) fueling anti sentiments. It looked commercial instead of flashing a responsive news, actually. The article too reflected the same.

So better, rediff shall pick full-stuffed journalists who can put the news stuffs in the interest of nation. Before posting shall senior groups of journalist review and change to put it to be in fine way.

2. In this article and related articles for the Readers comments its had disabled 'Report Abuse' for certain comments and dont know on what basis it is been chose. Should be threatened by chauvinist elements.

A comment telling us the solutions or producing certain data or producing their opinions in ethical way only should be spared. Rest garbage should be removed.

Note: Rediff shall consider our requests as the mentioned above things are factual and no one has the rights to violate others freedom be it media or individual. But internet being a open place and rediff being a recognized portal of this national for trustable and healthy news, shall consider the above.

Thank you.
