They don't want it?
by Yogesh Kalra on Feb 06, 2007 10:17 PM  Permalink

Suppose Pakistan etc say they don't want this funding since it comes with so many riders? Wouldn't that be hilarious!

Lack of true understanding
by Aditya on Feb 06, 2007 09:43 PM  Permalink

As an American I can honestly say that our leaders really have no clue about anything beyond their white picket fences. In many ways Musharraf is playing us by giving up low level operatives while sheltering high level ones. Pakistan is still the logistical center of Islamic terrorism and also serves as a base to the Taliban as they conduct cross border raids on our troops. In the mean time Pakistan has received billions of dollars in aid (not loans) which of course is paid up thanks to tax payers like me. Along with monetary handouts, Pakistan also receives a lot of military aid and technology. Am I the only one who is confused about how a military is supposed to use an advanced multi role fighter jet like the F-16 against the Taliban when the infantry can't even access all areas of the country? Whom are the expecting to engage in dog fights? And what are their targets??? mud huts and slums? So far this technology has only been used against the Balochis and illicited in an arms race with India.
Frankly I am sick of presidents who think they can buy victories and cooperation.

I dont know Y Indian like Americans
by on Feb 06, 2007 03:59 PM  Permalink

These American are the wrong doier in this world. They have attacked Iraq not because of WMD or democracy just to eliminate the Cold war (Enemies) Russian allies now they are targetting IRAN the only Country left in the Arab countries of Russian side, remaining all the American side. that's Y they are forcing India not to sign the India -Pak- Iran gas pipeline deal. Even they have threaten Pak also and asked how much will u earn from this deal that much we will not give you. But When PUTIN the great visited here requested he Indian govt to go ahead with Iran project. That's Y American are getting frustrated and try to give more money to pak so that they will ask them to blow the pipe and tell them that Terrorist has done it.. that is ther Agenda in long run.
Even though I dont know why Most of the Indian will love the American hate ther own land specially the Gujus people.

First off, let me make it clear that I am not an Islamophobe, nor do I parrot off statements simply out of bigotry or misplaced nationalism.

I do however completely disagree with your statement about Pakistan not supporting terror based on objective evidence. Pakistan since the early 80s has been a hub of Islamist terrorism. There were supposedly over 40,000 radical madrassas in western Pakistan by the late 80s. By the early 90s, Kashmir (PoK) was turned into another terror hub. Islamic radicals from all over the world come to receive training in Pakistan. Even the ones who get trained in Afghanistan have to first go through Pakistan. The Taliban was a Pakistani creation, not Afghan (as most of the world today believes). There are multiple terror groups that are based in Pakistan today (LeT, JeM etc are just a couple of examples). They also harbor terrorists such as OBL & Gang, Ahmad Omar Saeed Sheikh (was releazed from an Indian prison after the IA hijacking and lived in Pakistan as a free man until he killed daniel pearl), Memon brothers (responsible for bombay bombings), Dawood Ibrahim (bombay crime lord and terrorist who lives in Pakistan as a celebrity). These again mind you are just a few examples. The ISI itself plays a huge role in this and are now amidst shifting the terror camps to Bangladesh.

I am by no means saying that all Pakistanis are terrorists; far from it, infact some of my dearest and closest friends are Pakistani; but I don't think anyone can challenge the fact that Pakistan has and to this day supports and harbors terrorism as a national policy.

N.B. The figures and examples Ive mentioned here can be found in the book "Ghost Wars" by Steve Coll- (pulitzer prize winner for non fiction 2005)
