RE:Dont make this as a regional issue please!!

Btw you forgot just a little minute fact that farmers in Maharashtra and AP are in such a bad shape that they have been committing suicides. Its unfortunate that you are using 'help' given to them as evidence for PM's unbias. Also most of our states have international border. Punjab, Rajasthan, Gujarat and J&K having so with Pakistan. The main reason why people are irked by PM's comments is PM is supposed to be uniting the nation and remove this region based thinking of one state being better than another. After all he holds the top position in central government.

This is very unbecoming of a PM

A PM should not say lets make any state the number 1 state. Your desire should be to make ALL states excellent. You are acting like a regionalist by saying that Mr. Singh.

Very True...
Just by making Punjab#1, India can not be on top. He should have told "One of the best States" rather then #1.

Hi Raghavendra,

If a teacher motivates its student to get a no 1 rank, it does not mean he is favoring the student. Similarly if all states strive to be the best it develops an enviornment of healthy competition which is good for the entire country. Pls dont link it regionism.

the problem is that I have never heard the PM say this to other states. It is not unnatural expect some regionalism in every Indian, including the PM. The only person who I have seen with no regionalism is Kalam
