We need leader like Balasaheb to solve this type of problem.we hindus are fighting for water.Karnataka should share more water TN.Its shows bias to TN.
its high time, kannadigas stopped being "Indians first, Kannadigas next". Its just an empty slogan for the rest of the country, especially Tamilians, while we are foolishly following it in letter and spirit.
Even a kid can say that the verdict is grossly unfair. Tamil Nadu's argument has been that it has already developed millions of acres of land for irrigation and these will have to be protected. But the whole point is that the only reason they could develop all those millions of acres was because they did it for the last 100 years at the expense of Ktaka's interests. Purely because these Tamilians asslicked their British lords, they got to have what is called 'prescriptive rights'.
As per this, Ktaka had to take permission to use even its own waters from TN. People are speciously trying to point out that Ktaka only needs to give 192 tmc to TN and not 419. But the point is that Ktaka is giving this 192 tmc from the rains that fall over Karnataka. How much is TN giving from the rains that fall over TN to Ktaka? - ZILCH!!
Karnataka is home to 40% of the basin area and contributes 60% to the water flows. 2/3rd of the basin area in Ktaka is drough prone while less than 1/5 of the basin area is drought prone in TN. Ktaka therefore has even more pressing need for the waters than TN.
Even an arbitrary judgement should have given atleast 50% of the waters to Karnataka. Instead, what we are getting is a little more than 25%. This is injustice at its very sickening worst. The dirty hand of 40 tamil MPs is there for everyone to see. Tamilians should be ashamed of themselves. Their behaviour is worse than even Pakistanis.
We Kannadigas should fight this tooth and nail and if need be we should bring Bengalooru to a grinding halt. That way we can put pressure on the software companies who in turn will put pressure on the central govt.,. It is high time that we turned the heat on.

what the hell you are talkin about your explanation is so idiotic, from your scream it is very clear that how "UR Politicians" have changed all your mind sets, there are farmers in both the states and both should be in a win win situtation, but read your blog one more time and see what a crap you have wrote, your are simply adding fuel to the flame, this should not be the case my friend.

Will rediff close this blog so that we can refrain from hearing these nasty comments. I think, we are Indians.
The real culprit here is neither Karnataka nor Tamilnadu...but it is Kerala. Kerala has so much extra water and it is all wasted to sea.(There is nobody to do any sort of agriculture, all have migrated to Gulf). If some of this water can be diverted to RN, they won't require this much of Cauvery water. And to make matters worse Kerala gets 30tmcft of Kaveri water, what for???

Kerala's rivers don't service the same regions as the cauvery. Similary the rain that fall in TN, do no service the up-stream regions of TN.
We dont have to learn about soverignity from TN. You can ask Tamilians who are leaving in Bangalore. They are pretty comfortable in here. They dont want to go back to TN. This is what is Soverignity is all about. If they are not happy with Bangalore, why do they come and work here? They are welcome to LEAVE NAMMA BENGALURU and go back to TN.

You mean to say that the Kannadigas living in TN are not living comfortably is it. Now, get ready, as you normally do, to bash up the poor Tamilians in Karnataka. Karnataka's geographical location makes it an ideal city for IT industry and if TN wud have had the same climate as that of Karnataka, we will be seeing lot of Kannadigas in TN. Its the job and not the love for a state or city that drives people to stay at a particular place. Afterall, water is universal and everyone should have a share of it. Poor tamils they entirely depend on monsoon and if it fails, you know the plight of the farmers. I am not saying that Karnataka does have farmers at all. Accept they also have the same plight, but the plight of TN farmers are more. Let it be like this, reduce the capacity of water opened to TN when the monsoon is good in those Cauvery delta region. Reports say that already the Tamil channels are taken off air and the bus services disrupted and you are talking about the soverignity of TN. Think first.
1.Hindi is not even regarded as any language in TN where as it is the National Language of India. In KAR it is the first and third language. We do have open mind about accepting all the people. Do you know what "open mind" means?
2.You are welcome to visit Cauvery Basin areas in Karnataka and see the plight of the farmers there. It is not better in any way. In fact it is worse. Suicides incidents are in the rise in that region.
3. Who told you to raise the farm land? Cauvery is born in Karnataka. So naturally we will have full rights to utilise it. Why are you making such a big issue when we increase the farm land?
4. Who gave you the permission to increase the width of the canals in downstream cauvery basin. We have our canals constructed as per CPWD directives.
The verdict is biased because of the political power that Karunanidhi and his party (read Maran and PC) wields in center. This is an awakening call to all MPs of Karnataka to unite and fight for justice. What is the logic behind constructing big canals in the cauvery downstream basin in TN where as in KAR we have stipulated canal size given by CPWD? Likewise there are so many illogical decisions taken by people of TN in order to get political mileage.
it is unfair decision and injustice done to k'tka. the state govt has to fight back for good share b'cuz k'tak farmers need water. Also MK nidi has influneced upa govt to get good deal on behalf of tn. K'tak govt should go more strong points and appeal against this bad veridict.

Amit, The only sensible post that I read here. Hope the statistics is right. I wonder why the tribunal did not find a percentage based formula depending upon factors like available water and time of year.

My Dear Educated brothers and sisters, please go through the statistics..Karnataka is only going to release additional 12 tmc nothing more ..so please understand the figures first. Politicians only wants to gain a mileage pl understand details of verdict before becoming violent on media publications. Total water generated by cauvery in karnataka on average rain fall - 462 TMC. In this karnataka share - 270 TMC - 58.44% TN share - 182 TMC - 39.45% To sea - 10 TMC - 2.1% Total water generated by cauvery in Tamilnadu.on average rain fall - 270TMC TN share - 237 TMC -87.1% Kerala - 30 TMC -11.1% Pondicherry - 7 TMC - 1.2% Sea - 3 TMC - 0.6% WATER FROM TN CAUVERY BELT DOES NOT FLOW IN REVERSE DIRECTION TO KARNATAKA.
Please understand and dont go by big figures(419TMC) of TN(as the more water to it is got from its own catchment).
Here a balance is drawn to utilise water more resourcefully for agriculture. Please join me and try to give correct figures to people.

Thank you Mr Rajan. Unfortunately these anti-nationals have access to the hide-button too. I get so mad when i see my message being hidden because some anti-nationals don't care for Mother India
