The verdict should fair and accept by both people, but the verdict given now is not fair , itd under tremendoes pressure of govt on the tribunal as a result equal justice is got by the people of Karnataka.

We are Indians first

Atlast the Tribunal has given its verdict on the vexed Cauvery issue. All the concrned states should respect the verdict irrespective whether the verdict is in their favour or against atleast in the interst of inter-state relations. Let us not be guided by emotions but by reason. Further times have changed. Though I am a native of Kerala, I always admire the great historical past of both Tamilnad and Karnataka. The magnificient Meenakshi Temple of Madurai, the Big Temple at Tanjore, the great Shore Temple at Mamallapuram,......the list is endless.Similarly I have seen the great creations of the Vijayanagar Emperors at Hampi(the musical pillars in the Vitthala Temple and the Stone Chariot really leave you spellbound), the great Hoysala marvels at Halebid, Belur, wow
Both Tamilnad and Karnataka are culturally rich states. It is this great cultural heritage which we should be proud of. Let the great Cauvery unite every one of us.Let us give and take. We are Indians first and last.

Ramachandran, Chennai

Bottomline?
by Aditya Gupta on Feb 05, 2007 03:59 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

Friends,
It is ultimately a matter of farmers needing water for irrigation, middle class people requiring water fo just the basic needs, it is the water needed for our fellow indians. How can one fight for loyalty for a state when the matter is about humanity? I think the people should complain who really do not get enough water after this judgement, be it Tamilians or be it Kannadigas. And blame it on those who really are wasting water.

Think what is the bottomline, don't spread regional hatred - that is what the governments want us to do - so that their real incompetence is hidden.

Dear Aditya , u r absolutely right, but the bottom line which u said is not equally justifiable by karnataka formers, coz the tribunal is under pressure of govt, which leads unequal justice for the karnataka and its a favour of TN.Just analyse the previous availability with present.

Tamilnadu- get scientific in your approach
by mahadeva prakash on Feb 05, 2007 03:58 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

Just because water is free, it id free for all. Instead of using age old pracitise of flood irrigation which is found to be scientifically worthless and wastes water, fertilizers and also reduces yeild due to rotting of roots, let the tamilnadu government use the resources at its command to educate its farmers and also its agriculture experts to go in for sprinkler based and SRI method of rice cultivation which not only saves 50 % water but also give more yeild by 30% and save money on all the fertlizers which get washed out to sea because of excess use of water. This applies to not only both these governments but also globally

Think rationally & not emotionally
by SIVAGNANA RAJAKUMAR on Feb 05, 2007 03:56 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

When India can share waters with Pakistan & Bangaladesh in a diplomatic way , why not Karnataka with Tamilnadu.
Let us all think that when flooding happens in Cauvery, whether Karanaka can take the same stand as it takes during dry season by not allowing water through dams built.
No one can stop water from it is natural way of flowing.
The issue is to be rationally though out than emotively as always taken in Karnataka.
You should remember that for power Karnataka depends only Tamilnadu & Andra
