Need a big debate like this.....????
by abhigna ng on Feb 05, 2007 04:34 PM  Permalink

Guys, think about the reliality...we haven't seen this type of long debate any where else apart from Rediff..and just go through the below information posted by one of our citizen...

An observation on Cauvery Tribuna's Verdict.

Total volume of Water available in Cauvery basin area, including all 4 states TN, Karnataka, Pondicherry & Kerala is 740 TMC

TN pleaded for 560 TMC

Verdict:
TN - 419 TMC
Karnataka - 270 TMC
Pondicherry - 7 TMC
Kerala - 30 TMC

Please note that verdict does not say that Karnataka should release 419 TMC to TN. It only says that TN should get 419 TMC out of total of 740 TMC available in Cauvery. For TN to get 419 TMC, Karnataka needs to release only 192 TMC. TN gets rest of water from Cauvery water capturing area in TN itself. This is 13 TMC less than tribunals' interim award of 205 TMC.

Out of 192 TMC that TN gets from Karnataka, it has to release 30 TMC to Kerala and 7 TMC to Pondicherry.

So, unlike the media projects, verdict is not against Karnataka. It is more or less in line with interim verdict only.

Infact karnataka get more share than TN. Understand the reality..

Hi Arjun

If, Karnataka does not have enough water, what we should do. Let us talk about reality. You can manufucture water by yourself, but first you should drink that....
THINK ABOUT THE REALITY AND THEN POST

iSNT IT A shame that we are quarreling amongst ourselves over something, which in reality doesnt affect our day to day lives, too much of politicising an issue will lead to lot of tension between states which have basically known to be peaceful. The credit of growth of bangalore, madras, hyderabad, pune etc, do not go to any one individual, community, language. These are happening cities because of the attitude of people living in these cities. Today we are showing economic success because of a unity by default. Lets hope this award doesnt create disunity amongst us and lead to tensions among different language speaking persons. I am a kannadiga living in chennai. I am proud of my tamil neighbours who have been great. I am sure many a tamilian settled in blore will vouch for the same. Lets be united. Hope the respective governments start thinking of saving rain water, recycling it somehow or create artificial lakes etc, let them give us solutions which will take us into the future than blame each other and cause infight.

We are indians first..it is very sad that we keep fighting..no one is going 2 remove tamils from bangalore nor IT companies will go 2 chennai right now (in few years u will also have them)..but the point is we should think like indians and not like idiots and fight on natural resources..we should discuss and negotiate where in all parties are happy :) and then look at other issues we are facing today..like building new dams..we have 2 grow..we have 2 show the world that we are not third world country...so lots of work has to be done by us..god bless india..

It is not Kannadiga's doesn't know...It's stupid Tamilians doesn't know.

1. Art of Sharing : Even though lot of verdict we r releasing lot of water to Tamilnadu from Cauvery, but you people don't know how to utilize it.
2. Patriotism : Just go to Madikeri and Kodagu you will come to know the meaning of Patriotism.

3. Hardwork : I don't know Tamil's Hard work , It's because Sir M. Visweshwaraiah 's Hard work
KRS is there and that's why u r asking some tmc of water. And there is lot of Hardwork befind Infosys Narayan Murthy where you tamil guys working.

(they eat and sleep and get electicity & Food from others) : You can see in the Tamil capital Chennai Railway station and Bus stop.

Can you share, what you shared with Karnataka. Kannadiga's are so liberal that is the reason more than 40 lac Tamils live in Bangalore. Kannadiga,s speak all languages in Bangalore. Just show me any Tamilian speaking Kannada in chennai.

Please excuse me for saying this. It seems to me that Kannadigas outside Karnataka are not sufficiently attached to their language to speak it openly outside Karnataka. Therefore the question is NOT show me one Tamil speaking Kannada in Chennai but show me one KANNADIGA openly speaking Kannada in Chennai or Mumbai or Delhi or Calcutta.

I think it is idiots like you who are spreading more disharmony than the politicians. If we never were to share Cauvery water, Tamilnadu would have been a desert by now. As for patriotism whats your locus standii to make a make a comment on Karnataka/Kannadigas?
As for electricity and food, get ur fundas correct and talk.

i guess the statesareallequally bised, there's nopatriotic fervour left. thats because everypolitician divides instead of uniting. we are just fighting within ourselves, neither has TN been proved a righteous state, nor has the KTK government been punished. its stupidity to fight amongst states.
