Benazir Bhutto
by Yog Raj on Dec 31, 2007 05:53 PM  Permalink

Thank you Mr Gautier for reminding us about the real Ms Bhutto. Whatever may be her uttering recently and whatever may commentators like Mr parthasarthy and Arun Poorie think, Ms Bhutto was the type who will have never forgotten the humiliation of Bangladesh and other achievments. Mr Musharraf is another one who will never forget the loss in two three wars (!(^%, 1971 and Kargil). It is high time our beautiful people in Delhi understood that.

Interview of Ms. Bhutto on BBC-Hindi Service
by Chilukuri Murty on Dec 31, 2007 05:53 PM  Permalink

In one of her interviews to BBC Hindi Service, years ago, I remember her questioning why Hyderabad (Nizam) was taken over by India when it was ruled by Nizam (who wanted to be a part of Pakistan), then why not Kashmir be a part of pakistan when majority of its people are muslim, though ruler was a Hindu ? She clearly told that Kashmir should be with Pakistan based on muslim majority.

Is Pakistan heading towards disaster?
by Demo-crazy on Dec 31, 2007 05:52 PM  Permalink

Pakistan politics is governed by those who think they need to show they are more anti-India than their opponents. This whole thing is a result of keeping masses from asking key questions on development, education, etc.

By creating a religion based educational infrastructure, which is controlled by extremist thoughts, the politicians have ensured that those at the lower strata of society are always in the clutches of religion. Since these folks do not get better avenues to fulfill their aspirations, they are directed towards extremist actions and promised the glory of heaven. Have you noticed any leader of these extremists themselves undertaking any such suicidal attacks? Why don't they want to enjoy the 72 virgins in heaven?

Indians are generally soft, and easy going. We tend to forget and forgive too quickly. While this is good at individual levels, it is a dangerous thing if our policy makers too get carried away in the emotions of the moment.

I believe Pakistan is a failed State and is used as a money making machine by its dictators, and politicians. If they are not serious about cleaning up militants and terrorists of ALL hues, the regional powers like China, India and Russia will have to take drastic measures.

I hope the sweet nothings remain so, and the policies are driven by more objective, and impassionate considerations.

We are privileged that despite all evils democracy in India has succeeded. We have been always represented by the most deserving leader at given point of time. Dr Manmohan Singh is a great visionary leader and he did what was expected to do. Dr Singh is a genius and he can't reciprocate like his counterparts of Pakistan. Therefore, I believe, he has done this uberrima fides.
