I do not think that such a tragic happening in the country's neighbourhood should be commented upon in such a flippant manner. It is indicative of immaturity. We Indians should consider ouselves fortunate that our Armed Forces are fully supportive of the Democratic process in our Country, and without any exception, support whichever Political party is voted to power. Are we not fortunate to have Defence Forces who are so very loyal to the country and even make the supreme sacrifice to uphold the integrity of the Nation, with a smile and expecting much in return ?? Surprisingly, the commentators do not hesitate to comment adversely about the Pakistan Army ,but do not write a word of praise for our own Armed Forces.

Pak army, from independance days, has been funded by saudis as counter-weight to india. US has also been influenced to support pak with arms and money due to saudi-oil companies' inflluence on american govt, increasing with oil-price rise. Al Quida also opposed to saudi monarchy only, disliking US only bec of its saudi-royalty-friendship. If the world really wants to fully free pak from its army-control and also quieten the Al Quida down, americans should stop supporting saudi oil companies and entire world should boycott saudi-oil purchases [buy only from other sources] until saudi monarchy is replaced by democracy or converted into constiutional monarchy. Can all this happen?

Nehru openly undermined the Indian armed forces. When they were praising the POlice forces they told the army people to be like the police. May be they were afraid that Army will get too popular and take over.
Dunno what long-term impact anybody's death has? The only people likely to suffer are her kids and family. I didn't like Benazir, but i certainly felt sad at the way she had to go! If nothing else, the lady had tremendous guts which many of the humans populating this planet don't have. She was felled by cowards and the assassin evaded capture too, by choosing the easy way out, suicide! Classic! I certainly don't comprehend what's the primary issue here, male-domination, religion or politics. She'd have certainly won if fair elections were held. Maybe that's the issue!

I disagree with the author's views. Benazir represented the Sindhi identity in Pakistan and her killing might lead to further alienation of the Sindhi community from the Pakistan main stream politics. This might be the beginning of another separatist demand in the making, like the creation of Bangladesh. Benazir's death might well be the first step towards the creation of sindhisthan.
it is after a long time that a very good analysis of the current situation in pakistan has come out as a sequel to tragic assassination of ms bhutto . it was in offing it is being extra ignorant to pretend surprise over her killing right close to seat of power in pakistan . many parties were keen to have her eliminated including usa, despite their open expression of grief . it is the high time the corrupt and myopic indian politicians mend their ways and promote understanding and love amongst the different communities in the country. no country becomes prosperous and peaceful by spreading hatred HATRED what benzir,s fater did and she promoted TALBANS . now the tragic results are all to see THANKS MR VERMA
wondering why rediff backed up the himachal pradesh elections.Sick about BJP??.. BJP got a thumping majority wining morethan 2/3. BJP continues to rock from gujarat to himachal.. congress dies for their pseudo securalism and false propaganda about bjp as comminual.. jai hind...
Exceptional analysis, worthy of a RAW analyst. I wish these matter of fact, in-depth analyses were translated, syndicated and published in vernacular media - including Urdu - too.
