Who is this BK Hariprasad? He dont even have a popular image here in Karnataka. He is too small to don the role of AICC General secy.
Let him first contest from here & win the election. No leader in Karnataka congress has the charisma except SM Krishna. Congress should brng back SM Krishna if at all it want to do any little better in Karnataka. Otherwise its fate will same as in the case of Gujarat.

Congress leaders to take stock of situation after Gujarat poll debacle
by Hebbar R on Dec 24, 2007 05:53 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

The Congressmen are saying that this election was on local issues and the Central leadership was not responsible. This is just rubbish and hypocracy at its best. None of the Congressmen have the guts to criticise the top leadership. Congressmen only talk what their leadership likes to listen to and in the bargain reality is totally lost.

As usual a scape goat will be found and he will take all the rap. The Congress just does not want to see reality and as such they will not be able to take any stock of the situation.

They blame the organisation in the state for the defeat just like they did in UP. Great, but why was this not addressed prior to the defeat? Does this mean that the Congress (claimed to be a 125 year old party) is unable to even manage an organisation in a state? Then how can they claim to be able to manager a country?

The Congress should realise that the crowds bought to a venue to impress their leaders will not necessarily vote for them.

Lastly, if the congress now wishes to regain its credibility even a bit, they should renounce their brand of vote bank politics. They should start treating all Indians as equals and they should show the strength to treat National issues with the importance rather than looking at it as a minority/majority issue. One can guess, with certainty, that none of this will happen in the Congress.

Interesting article , however i have a very different view point of the situation :

main reason for loss of congress is not what has been touted but plain and simple " an orator " -modi is a fabulous orator , doesnt matter whether you like him or hate him , but you just cant ignore him
2. People have become smarter , look at gujrat in 2004 , the same state with same modi voted in a different pattern .
3. Biggest weekness of anti modi forces was probably lack of a shrewd election manager , someone like arun jaitly , now every body is saying the victory was of modi , i say no boss , it is a victory for Mr. Jaitly .... hats off to planner par excellence .

You are in a way correct. Having a good orator is very much essential, but that alone is not sufficient. Most of the leaders of the BJP (expecially those who came from the Jan Sangh days) are good orators. But, they do not have much of an electoral impact.

Yes, your assessment of Arun Jaitley is bang on target. He is indeed a master strategist and an asset to the BJP.

Modi should help Maharashtra
by kishor on Dec 24, 2007 05:52 PM  Permalink

Congress, NCP in Maharashtra reach grass roots of the society in Cities as well as in rural area. In Congress, NCP culture corruption starts from the root level right from Nagarsevaks to CM. They have power and money and gundas to snatch votes in elections. Even if they don't get clear mandate they buy candidates with money. Modi needs separate plan to encounter this. Recently good leadership is developing in BJP/Shivsena but most of their campaigns are superfacial and hence short lived. Need is to go at public root level as Modi did in Gujart and show people what they can do for them. In Maharashtra too media is in the hands of Congress. BJP/Shivsena should let media do barking in favour of Congress. Uddhav Thakre, Gopinath Munde and Gadkari are good leaders with good public image. If Modi guides them about how to handle media and how to win people's heart BJP/Shivsena will do well. Common man in Maharashtra is unhappy with the Congess/NCP govt. People are feeling unsecure becuase of recent ULC bill. Inflation, corruption is going on and on.

If congress is democratic party Mrs. Sonia Gandhi should own up moral Responsibility and RESIGN.She should give way to young leader to steer the party. If it is not done she will be eaten away by all CORRUPT allies as many of them are only focusing in making money for themselves at the most their families.any how it will be reflected in the coming election.

She may take ownership and resign. But, her followers will make a farce of it and bring her back. Actually, they will make it a big publicity exercise and with ample support of the media, they will ensure that she returns to the presidency with more strength at least with in the Congress.

Very nice Joyful.
You guys are disgusting. Why do you come down to personal levels ? Do we discuss Atal's illicit relations at this age ? What was that Bhattacharya guy ? He was supposedly his son in law. Now you say that you are not aware but it is a known fact what he was. but we as true indians respect his age and the position he held so do not say anything but you guys are shamless and then when someone speaks against your (BJP) leaders aapko mirchi lag jaayegi and Atal will cry and say that the level of politics has gone down. Does that old rotten man not see what his men speak ?

if Rahul marries her and keeps her within house, thats personal. But it so happens that people like you are so interested to bring her to lead the country. Thats where the problem starts. We dont need a foreigner lead us.

What ever you talked about Bhattacharya guy, did Atal try to make him prime minister of this country?

CONGRESS can come back only if they focus on Positives
by Sridhar Vijayaraghavan on Dec 24, 2007 05:38 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

No doubt the whole media was aginst MODI and he could make it only because of contribution to the development of GUJARAT.People of Gujarat knows that Congress is directionless, rudderless. Mr. Bharath Solanki is right man in wrong party. Probably CONGRESSis finished as it has happened in Tamilnadu, Uttar pradesh. If at all they want to come back after five years Congress has to do work in the constuencies from now on.As long as they play Caste politics and minority vote bank politics they will be dubbed as NON-ENTITY.It is sad CONGRESS PRESIDENT is not able to speak any Positives in the recently concluded election.
If they attribute Gujarat is NOT DEVELOPED,CONGRESS has accepted in all other states are worse than Gujarat and including the ones RULED By CONGRESS.
Congress have accepted they have not performed in all the areas.
ELECTRONIC MEDIAS PROJECTION OF GUJARAT IS LOPSIDED AND ANY ONE VISITING GUJARAT CAN SEE THE HAPPENING FOR THEMSELVES.THUS THE ELECTRONIC MEDIA IS AGAINST MODI WITHOUT ANY BASIS.

There are people with the kind of views you have expressed. India is a democracy and you are entitled to your views. That is why 62 seats were still won by the Congress and its allies.

Just to put the record straight, Togadia and the RSS DID NOT SUPPORT Modi this time. This is claimed by the media which is totally partial to the Congress.

Make UPA - Extinct
by bizventure on Dec 24, 2007 05:36 PM  Permalink

In any secular country the equilibrium is sought to be built around the majority so that the minorities survive in peace and harmony.

In this country we have UPA which is totally denigrating the majority and appeasing not only the minorities but are playing to the casteist galleries in the most blatant manner [Gujarat is the prime example].

Let this be a lesson to all Pseuod Secularists and the Media that first the Majority has to honored and given its due and then conditions for harmonious integration of the minorities can be taken up so that the entire structure remains balanced.

UPA - from denigrating RAM to Ram Sethu to Christian Conversions in Tirupati and a multitud e of places, every effort has been made to ensure that the majorities are insulted at every level. What more blatant example of social fabric destruction can be given than the attitude of Sonia and Digvijay Singh ....

If the Hindus unite at this juncture - this rag tag UPA can be put into extinction sooner than later.
