When the killer quake measuring 6.9 on the Richter scale hit Gujarat, it left 15,000 people dead in the state. Kutch's toll was the grimmest at over 10,000. The temblor destroyed 90 per cent of Bhuj, and ruined lives in the towns of Bhachau, Anjar, Gandhidham and Rapar. In all, more than half a million lost their homes and over 150,000 people were injured.
With the region reduced to a concrete rubble, the economy was literally pushed back to the Stone Age.
But six years later, India's second largest district (the largest is Leh) Kutch-one-fourth the size of Gujarat-has reemerged from the ruins to become a major industrial hub. Fuelled by post-quake investment that toted over Rs 28,000 crore at last count, the district's throbbing economy is leading Gujarat's industrial march to a double digit growth.
The investment is already touching Rs 50,000 crore within the year. The leap is huge considering investment pre-quake, since independence, had never crossed Rs 2000 crore

Wondering if islam is such a bad religion, with so many flaws: Why are so many members on this forum are bent upon defaming islam and muslims? Why so much of time and energy is spent on trying to subdue islam that is supposed to die its own death, due its inherent weakness? Why is islam 1400 years plus old and growing? Why is islam accepted by the billions? Why is that Mohammed is rated as most influential person in history of mankind? Why are the developed nations and superpowers are fighting a poor, hungry, ill equiped, rag tag militias? What keeps these poor wretched fellows going against the mighty superpowers? Why is that even after 5 years of carpet bombings, the western powers are unable to control Iraq and Afghanistan, except for Green Zone and Kabul? Why is the civilization clash is between western and islam, when islam is at its weakest point. The clash should have been between western and Asian Why did the Brits withdrew from Basra silently without fanfare? Why is muslim womens modest dress code ridiculed, why not the nuns dress or for that matter the modest Indian womens dress code of sari. Why is that the western hegemony and imperialism imposed and is supposed to be perfect? Why is that the 1.25 millions lost Iraqi lives is known as collateral damage to bring cheap petrol to US consumers, whereas 9/11 trade center killings are of innocents ?
The discussion board has been communalised. Rationality has taken a back seat. All sorts of messages are being posted to malign one or the community. We All have to live together and peacefully for the rest of our life and create a good environment for the generations to follow. Listen to the voice of your religion and religious guru and saints and you will be a good person.
If you will listen to the version of religion doctored by politicians or religious leaders having political ambitions you will fall in the trap and will become a misguided Hindu or muslim.
Be a good Hindu, a good muslim and good humanbeing and become a torch bearer of peace and not hatred.

Brother, hold a mirror to see who is doing it! You bring illogical thoughts and expect people to say "YES" to all that crap. Where there are sane arguments, you go silent. Because you have no logical response. Agree with the other side if there is merit.
But, you can also expect some harsh words or bantering - after all this is a forum for exchaning thoughts. Why cry foul when you seem to be lost for thoughts?
I know no religion is perfect. You have not taken theka for Islam to defend it even when you know there are some wrong things happening.

Main Hinduism ka theka nahi liya hai, na hi tum ko kissine Islam ka theka diya hai. Sab me thoda bahut kamjoriyan hain. Baat unko maanene ki hain aur unko theek karne ki koshish ki hain.
Jaise hum dekhte hain kuch hamaare dharm guru galat bolte to hum log uske khilaf bolte hain. Islam ke Maulvi log agar galat boleto aap ka haq banta hain uske khilaf aawaaz uthayen.
Dhara ka khilaf chal ke dekho, aawaaz utthao, phir dekho kya kya kamaal dikhao ge aap. Good luck!

Ismail, you are right in saying that all of us Indian brothers & sisters have to live together & share our combined destiny as a nation...I can't argue on that. We must not carry forward our hatred anyomore and most importantly, we should pledge 2 things to make that happen:
1. We shall love our country more than ourselves. 2. We shall RESPECT ALL RELIGIONS.
I already respect Islam & prophet Mohammed. Are you ready to respect Hinduism, Rama & Krishna?

This is the real danger, when you do not let your reason take command, but become a blind follower of your faith be it Muslim or Hindu or any other. Your religion is a gift of God, but you always have the right to use it within the boundaries of your interpretation, your present day thought process. Prophet Mohammed was living in the 7th century, Christ was born two millenia back and Lord Rama was born much before. Though Hindu society was very civilized, we cannot take all that is written as the Holy Gospel, to be followed blindly. Surely the imperatives, the situations, population, demography, educational level, disparities, leagl framework, etc ... everything is different andas (hopefully) enlightened people we should respond proactively rather than blindly. That would make us all savages like those in Saudi Arabia or the Taliban who believe they are doing God's will while breaking down the Bamiyan Buddhas, or the magnificent architecture of the Swat Valley in Pakistan, or the suicide bombers of 9/11. Surely if they have a God, they will be punished
