Rediff encouraging hatred amongst Indians
by vivek murthi on Dec 20, 2007 09:52 PM  Permalink

I write this keeping in mind that I may be blocked permanently from posting my views in the rediff forums. After repeated letters to the editor, I have not seen any improvement in the language and attitude of readers in these message boards. Rediff.com does not seem to be doing enough to avoid such hatred and communal views being spread other than the occasional blocking of certain messages. The message board is providing a platform for such racial, communal, regional abuses. I think we can file a case against rediff for providing such a platform. Not being able to control their own forums is the same as encouraging such views. There must be a place in our judicial system for such offenders. We should take that road if need be. I hope there are still some decent readers around who agree with me on this

Global Warming
by Gaja Nimbae on Dec 20, 2007 01:47 AM  Permalink  | Hide replies

Folks,

Though i'm not promoting anything here, please watch 'Inconvenient Truth', documentary from Al Gore, and do your bit to save the earth. All these calamities are due to global warming. Please stop hatred towards anybody, remember we are all humans, even before we learnt any language.

Dear Gaja.. dont bother about all these mumbo jumbo about global warming and all that.. Those are just some incomprehensible theories..

You just accept jesus as your personal saviour, and then see the difference that comes in your life. If only the people of TN had done this before they too would have been saved. :-( poor souls :(

I guess this happens because the people have not yet converted to christianity, and jesus is doing this to teach them a lesson

Curious Onlooker,
You have a sick mind. Clearly you are not a christian but a mischief monger and purely doing this to roil up emotions from the other religions.
I don't know whether to feel sorry for you or the other naivetes who are going to fall for your inanity and start abusing christians and of course it has to be Sonia's fault! Sicko, even if you cannot do good, atleast learn to shut the f*$k up instead of inciting disharmony.

prashant please do not utter such inane statements and show the largeness of your mental capacity. There was only one Jesus, will be one jesus.. and he did not have any gurus...

I understand that you made this remark in ignorance. No problem, jesus forgives one who did in ignorance. lets pray to jesus to save our souls.

peace onto you prashanth

Whether it ia rain, tsunami or any other calamities we Tamilians know how to come back from that. I don't know why so many Indians are worried so much about Tamilians.

how we let ourselves get distracted from the real work
by anjalli ravikumar on Dec 19, 2007 08:32 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

when i read the responses to the articles, i realize that we Indians have an inability to focus on the real issues and like to allow oursleves to get distracted. what's the issue here? 4 human beings have died due to the simple phenomena of excess rainfall. how can we allow this to happen? we are so caught up in fighting over our man-made differences such as caste and religion we don't have time to address the real issues. Guys , we will never reach developed country status if we don't put aside our difference and focus on building better schools, better hospitals, a more effective emergency response system, a cyclone warning system. we have to rise above our petty attitudes. how do you think the west developed? it wasn't a miracle, they worked hard and focussed on the real issues.

really there has been some meaningful 'write-ups' coming because of this topic. I see everybody fighting in REIDFF. IF its about Tamil- Kannadigas & malayalees-fight & vice-versa , inter-allia ; north-south divide, north-east divide. it goes on. THere is no harmony unless there is real issue which crops up. I ask rediff to post real issues ( original) and get the People of India together.

To Krishna Reddy.
First of all, if non believers are to be killed, then first Karunanithi has to die. First you dont know who those people are.
Going be ur logic. I know there are lot of prostitutes in ur state, should we call ur mom one of them.

He is not Mad. It is a fact. I dont know much about the north or weather patterns. But every year when there is a cyclone, it usually makes landfall in coastal AP near machillipatnam, nellore etc.

So the reason for so many deaths in ap is that there is just more exposure to the severity of the storms. Needless to say that outcome would be same if the storms hit any coastal town in india.

dont put any agendas into such deaths. They are just in the path.

Question to rediff
by raw brandy on Dec 19, 2007 06:37 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

Why does Rediff provide a forum for people to exchange hatred ? Why aren't you making any effort to really "moderate" the discourse and promote harmony ?

If you see the right hand side of this page you will see the ad banner which is the main source of income for sites like rediff. Only if you promote hatred you will get more posting which will increase the page views and ad serves. It is their business. Instead of doing this they can add "SOME OTHER" content to this site which will increase page views.

Its not the Rediff that provides a gateway to exchange hatred and toil in communal feasts... The blame is to be on the 'certain' regionally biased ones that seizes the prey from available sources, eliminating their common senses.

To our dismay, we could blame none other than Rediff here in this context, which, I am sure isn't going to go any better to void these aberrations

Yes, there will be characters of all shades. But Rediff is only aggravating things as it provides the forum for these characters.
It is like stoking a fire and pouring ghee on it.

I would say, that these 'certain' animals would try to carve themselves logically into these forums instead of just hoaxing legitimate opinions.

Furthermore, this particular column by Rediff, according to me, is intended to pity the bereaved and force the dumb govt. to initiate recovery...
