Ways to reduce corruption !!
by karthik on Dec 19, 2007 08:19 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

1) Making the people more literate. A literate person is more intolerant to corruption, and will be better prepared to fight corruption than an illiterate person. Ofcourse there are exceptionstothis rule, but this has been the general trend.

2) Increased computerisation of the land records, government offices, judiciary, govt hospitals, police stations, electricity and tax departments etc. This will make it difficult for the people working in them to manipulate records in those places.

3)Reduce population. Huge density of population will make it difficult to monitor people using govt schemes at every level, and to keep track record of criminals etc. Population will also make it difficult for the govt to provide education and health care facilities, jobs etc to the poor. And this gives rise to demand for jobs, and the job providers are exploiting this demand of jobs, by making job applicants pay huge money as bribe. eg:police department.

4)The literate and educated people in our country should fight more against corruption in means possible to them. Cos the poor and illiterate wont be able to that as much or as good as us.

5)Since most of us have been seeing corruption since childhood we have becomne used to its presence, and more tolerant to some extent. We should get out of it.

6)The media should become more proactive, because as of now it isthe loudest voice ofthe people.

KOI BHI DESH PERFECT NAHI HOTA HAIN, USEY PERFECT BANANA PADTA HAIN.

Wow what an idea of democracy, huh!!!! I hope you are not some leader of some party.........democracy doesn't mean MF Hussain has to write nude Allah or Muhammad too. But it surely means he has an obligation to defend when questioned, it also means you have the right to paint nude Allah or Muhammad and you will be obligated to answer if questioned.

India's Democracy is something of a miracle
by Viraf Mehta on Dec 19, 2007 08:03 PM  Permalink

After reading Dr. Diamond's article, I for one would like to inform him that his analysis is like seeing a glass which is half empty or, a glass that is half full. In India's context, I see the glass as being half full.

Yes, India is surrounded by countries where democratic institutions either do not exist, or are very week. It is here that India plays a very important role. It is the beacon that provides a light for these countries to follow.

Secondly, I do not think democracy in India can ever fail. Democracy in our country has a very strong foundation at the grass root level. Right from the village Punchayat to the Lok Sabha, people are ingrained and know how democracy operates. Indians are conscious of their political rights, and freedom. One, however, would like our country men to be a bit more conscious of their political responsibilities too.

Dr. Diamond is correct in saying that there are severe problems like corruption and insurgency that plagues India. However, for the present generation, which is educated and has a higher level of political consciousness, the adherence to democratic principals will ensure that both these evils are banished from society.

Finally, which democracy does not have corruption? In the recent past, the USA has been plagued not by monetary corruption, but by moral corruption. At present, one of Canada's ex- Prime Ministers is being probed for accepting money from a lobbyist. Just a year ago, Canada had a Sponsorship Scandal, wher

There was a speach by Singapore mender recently. His perception is that a small country like Singapore should have the ablest administrator.Otherwise the country will collapse whereas a large country will survive under weak leadership.

Right now I'm in Singapore and I can talk about Singapore....SNG leaders did super job for providing best in class and secured life for their citizens in available resources being such a small country and recent time life is becoming expensive in Singapore...if they can control that for ever SNG will be best for their citizens

Indian Democracy

American democracy is quite old and successful also. Then, why Mr Dimond reject the same for us. Earlier we adopt 2-party presidential form of government, sooner we shall get our old glory. Changing from one form of Govt to another one shall change the sick mindset of our people. British system based constitution in last 60 years have done nothing good to our country. Keeping as many slaves as possible has made us so weak that we are unable to bring a single medal from Olympics.
