A REALITY OF WISDOM!~!~~
by Alamelu Subramaniam on Dec 19, 2007 04:16 PM  Permalink

TRUE!~~!What Mr. Diamo0nd has said is absolutly correct. But even here, I want to emphasise, the fact, that the parties aree making so much money by all means,, and that laundearing shd be checked@!~!! Put the value of the property and assets of all the parties, and make it aknown one to public one. Why shd the past prime ministers houses be made a memorial one, when the party can do the same withtheir money..
Congress party had a lot of lands written for teh sake of freedom struggle, but it did not dissolve the party(as told by Gandhi)but is making a hay with it..WHY?
People are being held ransom by the parties, and the politicians are even questioning the judiciary, when it questions their actions which are made in a partisan adn flexible manner, to their favour..It is a must,- a bopdy like election, with full power to question the political bureocracy and the extending Corruption and mafia of the POLITICAL PARTIES..

Mr DC : Since Maurya /Asokas period Indian states were advanced some of the CHANAKYA 's priciples wriiten in 6 thcentury BC are still relevant.

WHY DO WE WANT TO LIVE IN THE PAST??
Mr. SLVP, With all due respect, 6th century BC was 6th Century BC - 2500 years ago!! Times have changed, the world has changed, equations have changed. We have to MOVE ON.
Why can't we use those principles in a modern way, so that we can beat the Americans at their own game??
We should try to emulate Japan, who, stuck to their traditional culture, and at the same time adopted modern technology and government, and see where they are now.
Stop living in the past, and think of ways to bring future glory to India.

Sons becoming president
by Kolhapuri on Dec 19, 2007 04:13 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

Does he know about america - forget india. George bush jr is son of george bush sr.Hillary is wife of Bill clinton. Nepotism is rife in america. Lot of people are saying that most americans wont vote this time as the thre front runners are Hillary (Woman), Obama (black) and Giuliani (Italian). Even Bangladesh and Pakistan have had women presidents. Improve your democracy first. then talk about others.

Stop abusing others..India is going to breakdown quickly in the future..its indeed a miracle to withstand this long. Heavy population->migration to cities->competition->decline in standard of living(mentally not materialisticly)->rise of lower castes(but are they proficient enough to hold the country together..its their right to rule..but in a hurry to become equals are they considering whats good for the nation?)->more and more corrupt and who doesnt believe in the system are coming into power->these corrupt politicians further breaking down the system and further paving way for few more corrupt politicians->Religious intolerance->violence due to enlightenment of the downtrodden->Worldwide depletion of natural resources....list goes on and forms a circle..some how the core -center is individual..means to be a better individual..RELIGION..lack of interest in religion is going to hurt us and the world.

by Gopi on Dec 19, 2007 04:48 PM  Permalink
Dear Kolhapuri: He was expressing amazement not condescending. And "nepotism" in America is of a different shade than what it is in India. Hillary is a self-accomplished lady, with very little help from her husband in professional matters. Unlike your friend Rabri Devi (very well accomplished lady, in the reproduction department) or for that matter Madame President (nepotism department, force the bank to loan her own relatives) or Jayalalitha (all relatives whom she claims as one).

Nepotism in the Indian political context would mean foisting somebody on people's head just because she/he is related to the ex-leader. In America, try doing that - you and I (ie Indians) are voting in the Gandhi-parivar for the dynasty name; Bush comes to power after sheer campaigning (would have liked to say performance, but boarders would ahve torn me apart) ...

So first get your political understanding right. And more so, the discussion should be the point he raised, instead trying to run his ideas down. You have any counter idea / opinion to what he said? Or should we also say, what does Kolhapuri know? He is half-baked the day he was born and remains so ... does not augur well for an intellectual argument on the board, mate !!!

Hey Gopi, well said, but don't resort to personal attacks here, mate! Some people are just plain ignorant, or deliberately post some rubbish to attract posts and arguments.

Are we really a democratic setup??? Of the people, for the people, by the people?

I don't think any of that is true.

That's the problem with most of us. Bury your head in the sand like an ostrich.
We can only improve if we are humble enough to realize and ACT on our problems and issues, even before somebody else points them out to us.
India has the 'potential' to be the Greatest, but I am afraid currently India is way behind in terms of democracy and development. And we will go nowhere with a complacent attitude.
