"JAISA RAJA WAISI PRAJA" is an old saying. It should be modified to suit the present situation. "JAISI RANI WAISI PRAJA" is better. After all, India is presently ruled by a Rani called Sonia.

india is an miracle because it is the land of hindus.....majority hindu's patience, rich culture, middle class contribute democracy to still survive in india......it has the perservance to absorb many shocks like brutual kashmiri terrorism........but in today's generation whether it is rich, middle or poor the patience levels are deterroiting fast and clashes due to misunderstandings are happenning quickly.......i see the roles of india and china reversed in next 50 years.....while china will go democratic way while india will go communist way due to rising unemployability due to increasing population........

Yes you are right Dr. Diamond, Indian Democracy is miracle because the leaders do not run the democracy, it is the indian people who are running this country on there own will and understanding. Otherwise leaders have tried and trying everything to kill democracy in India. Am I right Freinds?

yes,but the flaws are there in the system
by Sri Dasari Srinivas on Dec 19, 2007 04:30 PM  Permalink

it is roll model for some countries those who are in the dilemma of adopting a suitable governance/system.
at the same time the system has some flaws which can be addressed suitably if the people feel that it is the democracy by which we can design a perticular society which we are aiming for.the major problem INDIAN democracy facing is in dessimination of the rules/regulations to the people at large(or we can say uneducated)and using of the RTI2005 enforcement.
i may put a question to our people that how many of us really know the power of RTI act.

so,these are the flaws indian democracy should address internally through our constitutional amendments and in the long run it may result in good yield.

india is a wonder
by Rajasekaran on Dec 19, 2007 04:22 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

Why blame only Government and leaders. People also are corrupt, wicked, heartless and rude. See how they behave in traffic. How they honk their horns, how they hit other vehicles, pedestrians, etc., See what they do to the public places, spitting, urinating, defiling, throwing garbage, etc. How they blindly believe and follow religious and political leaders who sow hatred and enmity in their minds. As a race we are doomed to be shabby, inferior in mind and actions. God only should save this nation.

You took the words out of my mouth, Rajasekaran. But it's not upto God, it's upto US common people, who can stay clean, follow rules, work hard and respect the law and have good civic sense. We don't have to be doomed, shabby and inferior.
We must think and act to BE THE BEST, and take steps to improve the country in such a way that even the Americans bow to us with genuine respect..

Ha!Wishful thinking,Roy!India is so full of contradictions that it can't change so easily..For that matter,I dont see it changing in my lifetime atleast.Things are bound to go from bad to worse and finally annihilate and a new world order reborn. That is what the mythology calls "Kaliyug".God or no God, this is reality and a matter of evolution. The Dinasours became extinct. So will humanbeings. And there will evolve another life form that will redefine existence.

Hey Shreen, if we make the effort, at least we will have the satisfaction of knowing that we tried, when it's our time to die.
Action is the keyword here, and we must try to be positive and aggressive and not just plod on in life like a Zombie saying that nothing can be done.

Boss!I m more in agreement with Ur earlier post - a decent paying job and decent comforts till I die in this 'avthar' is the least I can aspire for;Its not that anyone in this forum doesn't wanna "try" reforms. The word reform itself has varied connotations in a democratic society. What is good for me may not be good for U.In a dog-eat-dog world, survival itself is an achievement.More so in a 3rd world country like India where the demand outstrips supply. We are one third the size of US and have more than 4 times its population, that too mostly illiterate and divided on various lines. If I can survive and provide some foundation for my dependants to fend themselves, that by itself is an achievement. And,I can clearly see that the world ahead is no good..the best "boon" one can get from "God" is not to be born again.. but that is philosphy, not meant for this platform. My sincere suggestion would be : Everyone takes care of his/her own life in the best way possible and survive,be conscious of your sorrounding and the environment.Dont add to the bulging population!

Bro, you forget one thing, hard-work co-operation brings more personal success and results compared to hard-work competition. It should be dog help dog to eat the cat, instead of dog eat dog (My apologies to cat lovers).

"1. Everyone takes care of his/her own life in the best way possible and survive,
2. be conscious of your sorrounding and the environment.
3. Dont add to the bulging population!"

-agreed!, that's a small but significant step. Pity that many people don't follow point 2. and 3.
BTW my earlier post was written in sarcasm, if you didn't get it :-)

Dear friend, none of us or our ancestors have seen God - it is just a belief... God is in Godliness ..cleanliness is Godliness.. Here cleanliness does not mean materialistic... a clean mind, clean activity, clean surroundings, clean thinking etc... When our mind becomes clean, we find God everywhere, in everyone, every living being...
