a lot i said about mr modi..... but just think who can b the best judge. gujjus themself... i say this for a very simple reason. citizen who r living under any admin can only decide its quality of governene. im a bihari.i can well imagine how loloo mis ruled my state.but the nation at large enjoyed it. even when he lost election and the local congress mla was not ready to support him.leaders from outside the state pushed them for it to defeat communlisim.bihar was sacrificed for the 'national cause'.im sure nthing for uch will happen in guj and citizen of the most prosperous state will well decide. we should keep out of it for a simple reason tat we r not aware of the ground realties.

hi amrita, i am a bihari who has grown up in gujarat, and wish and pray that only modi wins. For the quality of governance that you are talking of, modi has to be the best. and congress has to be the worst, the way they have been in bihar and karnataka.
Which moral absolutism is it to lie about WMD in Iraq and occupy it, keep quite about Pakistan's terror factories and AQ Khan's nuclear retailing, maintain segregation of blacks till 1969 etc etc? Not only Indian but every society practises contextual morality. It was moral to burn oneself in the face of marauding armies because they knew that they would otherwise be violated. It was contextually OK to divide society 'broadly' into varnas for the sake of functional interdependence. All these are not valid in 21st century, so get rid of them. To change with time is progress. To look back and criticise past practices is impotent regression. If Marxism is OK, why not Hindutva provided people buy the ideology?

jahnavi, i think u're proving the author's point about our contextual morality - 'IF THAT IS RIGHT< THIS IS RIGHT TOO'

agreed but history repeats why u guys can`t understand so better be careful
"while Westerners function on moral absolutes, Indians function on contextual morality"
No exactly. Western moral absoluteness is only applicable to their own stock. History is witness that this morality never stopped them from exploiting unsuspecting non westerners. Apartheid, slavery, absolute annihiliation of indeginous population in Americas, the list is endless. While in India, we are just the reverse. We apply moral absoluteness when we judge ourseleves, whereas have no problem accepting moral relativism when it comes to others. This weakness has been exploited by firangis repeatedly but we still don't get it.

I think in the west, absolute morality is widely recognized but never effectively referenced. In India, we seldom even recognize it. We used to, but not anymore.
If congress allow all the churches, very soon India will be over loaded with muslims and christians and they will fight with government for Reservations. Again he congress will make some stupid assurances. the people who are voting for Congress (generation of old people) should die first in order for India to be good in Future
Please try to digest the truth. He is going to be 2nd time winner.

I don't know why people can't digest it. He is getting support of the people from gujarat. Sitting outside and commenting is very simple. Still you go to gujarat, everyone will favour him.
It's very simple. People like you cannot digest others success.
Last time he won, people told it is because of Godhar. What about this time??? Any excuses. Do you like the clown like Sonia and boneless Manmohan.
My pray to people sitting out of gujarat is just go there and see first... Get well soon.
Many of Modi Bhai's chamchas beleives that he can not be finished. If this Modi die thousand other Modis will born. So Modi Bhai is like Veejashur whose single drop of his blood use to creat thousands of other Veejashurs. Well, ultimately he too was killed by Mother Kali. No one is indispensable, you see !
