Modi and the Ramanujam Test
by Gurudutt kamath on Dec 18, 2007 06:05 AM  Permalink

Behind every human decision, there is an element of FEAR, small or big. This pushes forward the actions of the humans towards what they aim at in life.
So, in this Gujarat election, the same principle has been acting vigorously. UPA president probably was envisaging a long term threat to her long term continuity in this country vis a vis Modi occupying the highest office in the parliment of this country.

not all politics based on religion is considered bad by the secooooolar crowd !
by Arun M on Dec 18, 2007 05:42 AM  Permalink

(quote)So we say it is fine to have caste-based political parties but not religion-based ones(unquote)

I beg to differ. It is fine to have a "Muslim League" in Kerala which is considered "secular" by the Congress and hence an electoral alliance has been going on for years- similar is the case in many other states also, like Kashmir and even AP I believe. It is also fine with the Communists i Kerala to have an alliance with "National Democratic Front", an outright islamic terrorist outfit in Kerala. And both the Congress and Communists are allies of numerous Kerala Congress factions, most of them run exclusively by Christians like Maani, Joseph, and so on

In fact , Christians do not need a party as top to bottom of Congress party - from Sonia to defence Minister Antony to AP CM YSR Reddy to Private Secretary of Gandhi family to RAW chief are all Christians

So the issue comes only if some party supports the Hindu cause or tries to bring all Hindus under one umbrella immaterial of caste divisions. That becomes outright "communal" and a "big crime".

You divide Hindus into whatever divisions you can think of and make a mincemeat out of that under caste-based politics, it suddenly becomes fine again - so yeah that part I agree with the author

Better Partition, Than Sonia
by san man on Dec 18, 2007 05:03 AM  Permalink

I'd rather partition India, or carve out a separate state from it, than live under those who launched their dirty slander campaign against Modi. If Modi can be vilified for riots that he did not cause, then anybody can be ambushed like that. I'm an atheist, but sorry, there's no way that I can continue to live with the Left. We'll have to partition the country soon, because there's no way that the dirty tricks of the Left are acceptable to me. Mass-murderers of Nandigram are busy judging others and calling decent people mass-murderers.
It's time for partition.
