Let us try to make our country better rather than ruling the world. The fact is, when a country is imposing its will over others, a bunch of folks from the perpetrator country use their resource to commit human crime aginst others. It is nothing more than than. Let us not rule others and not let others rule us.
The author's truth telling is not absolute. He has forgotten the Bombing of Hiroshima by US. If their moral values were absolute that should not have happened. What about Iraq war? What about slavery? ( That can be forgiven if he is talking about moral values after abolishment of slavery.

In India and anywhere in the world expedience is always the alternative to morality. Thoreau talks about it and so does Kant. I do not think this is unique to India. Why do Americans think it was alright to bomb innocent civilians of Kabul when innocent civilians of New York are killed? So this eastern vs. western analysis falls flat.

Our problem is simple. Ouyr politicians tend to appease the minority for votes and for nothing else. So when the majority is left out, we develop people like modi. Then we keep baiting him, making the situation worse until the whole majority feels pity for themselves and then eventually polarising the community.

Dalits and lower castes people today understood that they have been beautifully befooled by Hindu fundamentalist to kill people belong to Muslims or any other religions. When the time of reservation for SC/ST/Dalit, Hindutva 'leaders' are not available.

The terrorism against USA is a global issue and need to be eliminated by wars. What about the terrorism India suffering since Indipendence? What kind of morality is this?
Contextual morality isn't limited only to Indians. It is infact prevalent everywhere including WEST. How can one explain the sufferings in the name of war-on-terror in Afghanistan and Iraq. Axis of evil is for the perceived .. as you see it.

There is a difference in the West and US - and that fundamental difference is their approach towards religion. Poor quality education as well as lack of "renaissance men" has made US a hotbed of fundamentalist christians who are slowly taking over even institutions like the Supreme Court. 92% of Americans believe in god and religion as against less than 60% in western Europe. US is a country founded "in the name of God" - the christian god - and is ruled by judaeo -christian values. It will continue to be in wild conflicts with countries around the world. How else can you explain Bush pulling off a war in Iraq in the name of fighting terror and unknow WMDs ? and people reelecting him till the dead bodies started returning home in pieces and the sham in Iraq visible.
Its easy to fool religious ( or indoctrinated ones like the Nazis ) people in the name of fictitious enemies , get votes and carry on.
