please read the portals that explain the verses of the Bible. It is good you read the portals that indulge in false propaganda. But do not vomit what you read. Read the christian response which you can easily get by searching the net and use your brain to judge yourself. I have answered the same questions, asked by people like avinash,JGN (I suspect both are same), etc,etc several times.
I maintain all religions are based on hearsay and rituals liable for varying interpretations. Once you are born to a religion, the natural tendency is to defend it. Also once you are coverted, you become more loyal than the king.
The ordinary folks in the western world are hardly bothered about religion in their day to day life. For them religion comes to play at birth for christening, marriage & death. If you talk religion day in & day out, you will be treated as obnoxious.
For the world to be a better place we have to put religions to the back burner. People, who are obsessed with it can do their research privately. In the name of our Gods, if we fight, we all will be dead. The one God will get so fed up, he can just switch off blaming himself for creating us all!
Let us live in peace. If somebody wants to covert, so be it. Good riddance. I maintain the religious parading are comical to others who do not belong to them. Let us live & let live. I also maintain that all miracles based on religions can be shot down by rationalists. Of course, any deep belief can be life altering. Likewise, one can renounce all religions and eschew rituals and use that time & energy for serving humanity and fellow creatures sans borders, true service. If that does entitle you to heaven, so be it. We should have the courage of convictions, not to abuse others thinking that our supposed Gods will defend us like a child running away from bullies crying "mummy".
Britain's geologists are about to celebrate the fact that the universe is exactly 6,000 years old.
At 6pm tonight at the Geological Society of London, scientists will raise their glasses to James Ussher, Archbishop of Armagh, who in 1650 used the chronology of the Bible to calculate the precise date and moment of creation.
Working from the book of Genesis, and risking some speculation on the Hebrew calendar, he calculated that it began at 6pm on Saturday October 22, 4004 BC.
Actually, he put the date at October 23, and then pedantically realised that time must have begun the night before, because the Bible said that "the evening and the morning were the first day."
The geologists selected the anniversary for a day-long conference on some of the fakes, frauds and hoaxes that have plagued geological and palaeontological research for centuries. "It's not that we think Archbishop Ussher's date was a fraud," said Ted Nield, the society's communications officer. "It's just that it was spectacularly wrong."
Dr Nield conceded, too, that in toasting the archbishop's calculations the geologists were committing another error. More than 6,000 years have passed since 4004 BC. The symmetry is only apparent. The date is a mere numerological reflection. The real anniversary passed unnoticed, in 1997. (The Guardian, Friday October 22 2004)

You try to learn sanskrit..mother of all languages and then try to read veds and ancient indian texts...you will sure be tempted to get converted to Hinduism... Time when Bible was written, most of the other societies in the world didnot even knew what language is and 400-500yrs before that Panini was busy writing one of the most advanced grammers in the world till date in sanskrits.

The latest edition of "Illustrated Oxford English Disctionary" available with me says that "the Jewish years are reckoned from the Creation (which is placed at 3761 BCE)!!!
Gospel of Matthew 10:33 But whosoever shall deny me before men, him will I also deny before my Father which is in heaven. 10:34 Think not that I am come to send peace on earth: I came not to send peace, but a sword. (10:34-36) I came not to send peace, but a sword. ... A man's foes shall be they of his own household." Is Jesus peaceful?
10:35 For I am come to set a man at variance against his father, and the daughter against her mother, and the daughter in law against her mother in law. 10:36 And a man's foes shall be they of his own household. 10:37 He that loveth father or mother more than me is not worthy of me: and he that loveth son or daughter more than me is not worthy of me!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Generally those who want to refute christianity google and read some portals which contain some verses that a non-christian looks odd. I argued with many people who, interestingly, mentioned the same verses as you did. If you want to know about christianity it is better to read new testament from top to bottom and use your brain to analyse on what context particular message was given. Coming to the point, the verses you mentioned were prophecy or prediction which Jesus told His followers. After his departure from the earth there will be no peace in the world and sufferings for humans increase; droughts, flood, new diseases, wars, etc will happen. You can see this in Revelations.I do not want to prove it, by reading history you could understand. All these are indications that the world is approaching the last judgement. And Jesus did not mean that He will deliberately make people hostile to each other but the hostility will come. You could see that even some mothers sold out their children, some killed female children, and children once grown killed their parents. All these you could read in newspapers. Yes we christians give more importance to God, the Creator than other relations. I do not find anything wrong in it.

Your problem is ignorance Mr.Cape Comorin. You have been taught for generations now about Bible, although europeans who brought this concept to you themselves read sanskrit & ancient hindu texts. They were simply awed by it! World is much more ancient than Jesus and Bible itself.Hindus had already lived their prime before Jesus came for you!

You may cut and paste many verses from the portals that indulge in false propaganda. So before doing cut and paste better read the following portals christiananswersDOTnet answeringislamDOTcom anointed-oneDOTnet and many more
You may feel irritated while reading because you are trying by all means to find fault in christianity but I have no time to explain each every verse in the Bible. And moreover I will be out of station for the next two weeks and I may not be able to answer your questions. Even after reading those portals if you have any doubt you are free to post your doubts.

Cape, if u dont want others to find faults with your religion, stop finding fault with others religions.
live and let live, but you wont listen, you people want to convert and increase numbers.thats what religion is for you, networking through churches, vote bank politics,UK visas, western funds.
Let money out of the church business and then see how priests run away from church.

>>>>>>>>>>>>>All these are indications that the world is approaching the last judgement..............you are creating a sort of fear psychosis in the minds of the gullible masses. Nothing is going to happen for another million years atleast.
As per proven theories of science, the world will come to an end after many many millions of years by losing the sun's light/temperature. At the end, the earth will be totally covered with snow (ice) making it inhabitable for any living creature!
The Chruches had speread a scare that the earth will come to an end by the year 2000. Seven years have passed since them. If the Chruches can try to befool those living in 21st Century, one can only imagine how they were fooling the gullible in the early years of Christianity!

Mathew 10:33 But whosoever shall deny before men, him will i also deny before my Father which is in heaven. This holds true for you also if you deny JESUS, you will be denied in Heaven and the devil will accept you to be into the eternal lake of fire

half knowledge is more dangerous then no knowledge. request you to read the bible carefully.. not just some verses of it and mis-guide and provoke people. first read the bible for your self and realise.
One of the things that is overlooked by many Christians is that there is a wrathful Jesus in the New Testament. Jesus comes out and condemns whole towns to fates worse than Sodom and Gomorrah for not liking his preaching. You can find Jesus in some very foul moods. -- Sam Harris, Beliefnet inverview.

He had in his right hand seven stars." Jesus holds seven stars in his hand. Of course, it is possible that this is metaphorical. Perhaps. But it is clear from other verses (6:13, 8:10, 12:4) that John thought of stars as being small, perhaps even small enough for Jesus to hold in his hand.
1:18 I am he that liveth, and was dead; and, behold, I am alive for evermore, Amen; and have the keys of hell and of death. (Revelation 1).
So every human being who does not believe in Jesus is fit for permanent residence of hell!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Basically every human fall into temptation one way or the other. So it is God's mercy that only can bring salvation to a human. So if there is no mercy the heaven will be almost empty. To whom He will show His mercy depends on how good his life in the earth.

Jesus has come back to tell the Story??? That is the reason why great leaders, scholars, scientists all believed in JESUS through out history. And i too believe in JESUS, a carpenter, who just lived 33 years, even after 2000 years. JESUS is "Mrutyunjay" (Victorious over death) even History supports this fact, that is the reason "Easter" is celebrated
My daughter had studied up to 10th Standard in a Convent School (run by the famous Carmalite Sisters) but that has not made her believe in the gospels or Christianity. She has the same disdain as I have for all religions (inclding Christianity).
I recollect that when she was studying in 5th Std one evening she asked me "who was Joseph if he was not father of Jesus Christ" to which I could not give any proper reply considering her tender age! Do you want to teach children stories like this????????

Dear Ratnajayant gudavally, it seems that you have not read my earlier messages. I have always stood for neo-humanism, devoid of any religious colour but the neo-coverts have a habit of rediculting our native culture. They think that anybody who speaks against religion are RSS/BHP goons!!!! By their defnition, the CPI (M) State Secretary of Kerala, Mr. Pinarayi Vijayan, who had recently issued an ultimatum to the Churches and other obscurantist religious organisations is also a "Sanghee"!!!!!!!!!!!!!
