Raja ji, when you have 100 powerful nukes aiming at them and IF you have SECOND STRIKE CAPABILITY for at least 50 of the 100, then however technologically advanced the Chinese be, you can always deter them. No sane country would want 50 nuclear bombs to be dropped on itself. And Chinese are very sane (and of course, very cunning too).

Raja ji, I am not talking about an actual nuclear war. I am talking about having a credible nuclear deterrence against China. Nuclear weapons are NOT generally meant to be weapons of actual war. They are meant to DETER the opponent from launching a war against you. India should develop so many powerful nukes that they should ultimately deter Chinese from thinking of carrying out any aggresive military actions against India. Chinese understand ONLY one language - Power.

every stupid country can acually take advantage of the situation our country is facing. if educated people like us can fight and screw each other in the name of religion, we can imagine the plight of the uneducated and uninformed. u start any discussion and the topic will come back to hindu muslim. bozz hindus and muslims are here to stay put up. u cant remove any one from here. when we cant do something which is not possible why dont we leave all these and think about some options which will actually help us. if we are not united even nepal will one day dictate terms to us. all of us talk of the kashmir issue but tell me how many know that china has occupied more kashmire than pakistan...it has occupied a lot of eastern india. why dont we talk about it.

Gentlemen
Congress ruled India for forty odd years & every problem we have now has taken place in those years only. Congress has always tried to do the similar things that Britishers, Mughals did to Hindu's for 700 years.
Now is the time that every educated person should take active role to do the welfare for India to avoid any misadventure, mishappening.
Politicians like Ullu P, SG, MMS (Puppet) et cetecra keep ruling then we shall keep crying with crocodile tears.
MP's should have minimum qualification that should be post graduate so that they have proper imagination, future thinking, planning

Hasten the development of Agni-4
by Neutronstar on Dec 13, 2007 10:01 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

India needs a 5000-7000 range km missile as fast as possible. Only when the entire Chinese mainland including Beijing, Shanghai and the newly acquired Hong Kong can be threatened from any part of India by Indian nuclear capable missiles, can we have a reasonable deterrent against China. Also develop Submarine Launched Ballistic Missiles, so that any Chinese city can be targeted from the seas. At least 50 nuclear missiles form land and 50 nuclear missiles from water, including around 25 thermo nuclear warheads (hydrogen bombs), each from land and water are needed to be aimed at China for credible deterrence. The hydrogen bombs must be at least 100 kiloton TNT equivalent. Without this, credible deterrent cannot be achieved against China.

Hi
A good analysis; all those who believe is going to keep quiet on its territorial ambitions need to read "the Dragon strikes".

Chinese have Hongkong, Taiwan is being aimed at, they supply military resources to Myanmar and are in control of the energy installations of myanmar more or less, have a dig at Nepal at different times, tibet has been declared by them to be a rightful place for them - nothing left other than the north eastern parts of India which they have been trying to destabilise for over two decades.

India should be vigilant and increase its diplomatice efforts at the global level to ensure that China puts limits on its territorial ambitions. The way ahead is to mobilise global opinion towards ensuring sanctions are imposed on China as only then will it heed advice to global opinion.

Militarily, totally agree with you that India needs to develop long range missile capabilities across all surfaces.

Regards

I am pessimistic that diplomatic efforts to contain China can prove successful. China is going to achieve super power status very soon. It is a permanent member of UN security council, with the veto power. So UN cannot impose any sanctions AGAINST China, since China will veto them. USA has its economy dependent a lot on China. So USA can't do much in a diplomatic sense. Russia can't do much against China either. Nor can Europe or Japan.

How come rediff knows all about troop movement? Plus troops are regularly moved back and forth on every ordinary day. No significance can be attached to the story.

Plus, it says "army officials" told rediff????
How come no one else, NDTV, timesofindia, hindustantimes....carried this story.
