Is the police ill trained and ill equipped to fight terrorism
by Demo-crazy on Dec 10, 2007 02:58 PM  Permalink

The answer to this sounds a big YES, at least when we speak in the context of Indian police.

The Karnataka police spent too much time in gaining publicity rather than focusing on collecting informaton on a person who apparently was not a saint - he rammed a buring vehicle into Glasgow airport. Our politicians, and the media colluded to paint a rosy picture of the Ahmeds and said they were being targeted!
What more do you want to kill any iota of motivation that the police may have had to get to the bottom of the truth?

If you observe most of the terrorism cases are not resolved, judiciary finds it easy to let them escape punishment because the evidence will always be weak. Our judiciary and media are so naive to expect that the person hell bent on doing such things will leave detailed tell tale evidence. The result more attacks, less arrests, lesser convictions!

If any time police does act, the curse of false encounters is there to haunt them. It is never easy to know whether the media is truthful or the police found it easy to take law into their hands knowing that courts will never convict because the evidence is never sufficient. Added to that, there are compromising policemen. What we suffer is the endless torture by terrorists, torture be media and torture by lawyers!!

Terrorists continue to succeed while we continue to debate!!!

When the CM of the state (HDK in this case) invites the terrorists and offers them government job, how can the local police investigate and come up with clues??

Why do not you people urself become police and milary?
by pramodm on Dec 10, 2007 02:38 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

If police and govt should do whatever you wish and whenever you wish, why don't urself appoint as police, lawyers and govt. Stop being a stupid instruments in the hands of narrow minded individuals. Law will take its own course and you need not make hell of noise saying afzal guru is let off and so on. Why do not you people do something constructive for the country and the poor than shouting and yelling? Serve the needy, sickly and the downtrodden?
