Page 3 of the Hyde act goes like this... Achieve, at the earliest possible date, a moratorium on the production of fissile material for nuclear explosive purposes by India, Pakistan and People Republic of China...

Page 4 goes like this... Secure India's full and active cooperation in United States efforts to dissuade, isolate and, if necessary, sanction and contain Iran for its efforts to acquire weapons of mass destruction....

Why should we fall to these... Has the US stopped testing nuclear explosives...?

Secondly, Why should we help to contain Iran...? The american inteligence agencies says there is no evidence for the production of nuclear weapons in Iran. Only Bush says that they are. The same old bogus story that was used in Iraq is being tried out. This is not Indo-US nuclear power deal.. This is to help America gain POWER in Iran...

dr friend

this agreement is opposed by china, our arch
rival who was behind kargil war.

whatever china opposes must be good for
our country. let us wish for the
agreement to see the light of the day
since our international isolation will end.

Not necessarily. It can be orchestrated that China "opposes" the deal. this is most likely the case. Old tactics used b the colonizers..that if you don't get the deal someone else will.

We need to get some clauses removed from this deal. for example the perpetuity clause which says that even if US does not keep promise, India will have to continue their nuclear establishment under inspectors. Why?

BJP wants Congress out
by ganesh subi on Dec 09, 2007 06:25 PM  Permalink

It is only the BJP supporters urging Congress to ditch Left and implement the deal. So that the government falls and the BJP can try it in the event of mid term election...And the BJP that opposes the deal will implement the same with more concessions to US. After all, this deal was shaped by the Jaswant Singh-Talbott duo's 14 secret meetings...

How can you say that it is empty? The threat is not to implement the deal. And till date that is not implemented. So the support continues. If they implement....

why no protest from people ?
by kavitha on Dec 09, 2007 06:07 PM  Permalink

Why people of India so calm for any matters related to progress of the country. Why we all are coming in to the street to protest as we normally do for the religious issue.

Left is right
by ganesh subi on Dec 09, 2007 06:02 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

We should remember onething. CPM categorically said if the government goes ahead to implement the deal in present format it will withdraw support. I think they have not changed their stand. Till date, the deal is not implemented. So, the support continues. If they go ahead without considering their main outside supporter they will have to face the music.
