when will india learn to be self reliant, india should partner with the top indian private companies in the defence development, with clear code of conduct written down, like BOEing and other private companies in the US. It was nice to hear that ISRO was partnering with TATA to develop the Hydrogen car.
What is suprising of this govt is that while the Gorshkov deal is still under water, we have gone ahead and signed another deal to buy T-90 tanks for 4600 cr rupees! Makes me wonder, who the deal is for, the Indian military or the russians.
Seems like Indians don't have any plan to get off junkyard business and build their own technology. All the R & D is concentrated in few places.
The MIGs that were flying coffins that could not be maintained & Government was reluctant to garbage them because of money spent on them. We could not detect what was the real problem because it is NOT our technology. Can you imagine, some Civil Airlines in India buy used Planes. How unsafe it is for passengers?
Even US does not sell their latest F* generation gadgets.
So long bureaucrats call the shots everywhere and the country does not give right position, power and recognition to scientists and technocrats, Indian state would have no option except to conduct like beggars. And beggars can't be choosers, obviously. In all such deals, bureaucrats have their own interests. Scientic and technical development goes against them. This country remains firmly in the grip of self-serving bureaucrats and is destined to be insulted and humiliated by even very small countries. The self-respect is clearly distinctly missing.

Remember, Indigenous Technology is a must for India's Total Independence. In fact for any country to become "totally and fully" independent like China it is must. The reason as you have mentioned is it generate lot of spin-offs applicable in various other technologies including household utensils and door latches, etc. My PhD deals with this hence I liked your great comment. AN OLD AIRCRAFT CAREER WHICH HAS 1960 ELEECTRONICS AND RUSSIAN DIALS WHICH NO ONE CAN READ. THIS WAS SUPPOSED TO BE SOLD AS SCRAP METAL. The air defense it quite bad with 1970 guns attached. This can be sunk using a regular Pakistani missle and will sink in 2 hours.. 1 MORE BILLION Dolalrs and you would have got an AMerican arcraft career which would have worked for 50 years...

Albert... Do you know that Russians are gifting the Aircraft carrier to India as a goodwill guesture. Apart, India is spending money for refitting of carrier so that she will server another 30-35 years.
Russians are making money by supplying the onboard aircrafts and spares.
I read in one of the articles that the size of Gorshkov is so big that India do not have a proper docking yard.

We have been developing the LCA for last 20 years and unlike Russia and the US who had to invent everything from scratch, we had a definite advantage for the technology that was already available, we still couldnt figure out how to develop things.

Do not expect that you will get everything from others for free. God did not send these to USA in a speed post. They had to work day and night to get this. Russians sold about 10 billion worth arms to India from 1950s.
Do you think Russians had a kind heart and liked India very much.. Absolutely no. They wanted money and India and China was thier only market. Europe and Japan will not buy anything from them...
Indigenous Aircraft Carrier should be developed @ fast rate and few more should be ordered: It is ridiculous to say that $1 Trillion Economy and 1 billion population country is not ordering few more Aircraft carriers and / or not developing it indigenously at faster rate. It must be in pipeline is what I feel. Otherwise, this is what we have thought in early childhood when we saw the first the aircraft carriers, the stealth fighters and the submarines, and the vertical take off-aircrafts: 1. For the country like India 10 Aircraft carriers, 100 submarines, 1000 stealth aircrafts is must to protect the economy and its people and its culture. Vertical take-off aircrafts must be there for Rajasthan and Kashmir Areas and for the Aircraft carriers as well. 2. With sheer number of graduates in the country, HAL, ISRO, BARC, IIT, IISC, should be able to develop indigenously better Multi-purpose Space Shuttles, even better than what NASA and ROSCOSMOS does, to travel beyond Moon, Mars and come back. Otherwise it is sheer waste of time, economy and the vast talent pool India has since ages. No problem in coming 10 years we can do that we have talent pool and supporting Economy. By involving all-Public, Private, Semi-Private, NGO, SHG and Military and Para-Military, and State-Forces India can do that. Certainly. Correct! Our Ordnance factories employ 5 lakh people yet all our weapons are imported! The LCA is finally flying, but with American engines and avionics.

Send all these old people in Ordinance factories home... Give them free pensions.. They do not know how to properly use a grinding machine-- If you do not believe me go to BEML or avadi tank factory and look.. Ooops they will not let you in.... National security..... Have you talked to Soliders from Kargil war... Out helicopers could not take off.. The weapons jammed and Migs cannot drop even a bomb correctly on the target. while terrorists were using night vision equipments and GPS and having white camouflages and bullet proof vests and using ATVs to move supplies our brave soliders were stuck with machine guns which did not work... only 1 out of 100 soldiers has night vision equipments. They used to borrow them from each other to look.. Regarding bullet proof vest even a 0.17 will go through our vests when terrorists were using .30 and above calibre..
The saving grace was the Bofors guns--- Please read history..

No new planes, no new ships, no new equipment for army, no new misslies. Kargil mess up (completely unprepared), explosion of a dud nuclear bomb, parliment attack and response (not even 1 shell was fired).

Actually, the BJP was stymied by the Congress and the Loony Left. Any move to modernise the economy is resited by trade unions of the dinosaur age. It will take a radical change in mindset to change India. As long as we are ruled by Prakash Kamat and Gurudas Dasgupta, we will continue in the same manner.

Ok. What was BJPs contribution to India in 7 years.... Do not tell us of the Nuke blast.. They asked our old scientists to take some left over plutonium and explode....
