Hate the politicians.
by Vinod More on Dec 01, 2007 05:23 PM  Permalink

Mean minded, vote based politics. Since Mayavati banned film in UP, now RPI is running behind the issue to save its vote bank being bagged by Mayavati. Poor politicians. Don't see greater issues. Has anybody of them studied the actual problems in the life of the people for whom they are fighting for? No, they fight for reservations, they fight for such issues which don't have any base, but will not fight for actual upliftment of the Backward people.

usage of the word
by tingu singh on Dec 01, 2007 05:17 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

i am of the opinion that the word "mochi" was used by the lyricist to represent a profession, and not a perticular caste. Even our kindergarten books refer to a cobbler as mochi, and a goldsmith as "sunar". A person who deals in "sona" is a "sunar". If you will not call a person working in a bank a banker, then what would you call him? Why create this unnecessary fuss just to gain some political mileage. Our so called politicians would be better off utilising their energies on something constructive like improving the lives of people who they say have been represented in the song.

caste names only for politicians
by Rahul on Dec 01, 2007 05:10 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

The caste names can be used only by the politicians to get the reservations. If they want to avoid such usage, let them first try not create the division among peoples using the same caste names.

The country will prosper only if you remove such idiots who are called as political leaders. They are here only to create problems only for their own survival...

Not true in the case of all castes
by MOHAN PYARE on Dec 01, 2007 05:10 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

Mahatekar says "According to our Constitution,a person cannot be referred to in terms of his caste. And if you do so you are insulting him." In Kerala, Nair, Menon, Panicker, Namboothiripad etc. are different caste names.Nobody objects when they are called by these names. First Chief minister of Kerala was EMS Namboothiripad. Namboothiripad is his caste name. Similarly, the Bhattacharya in the name of WB Chief minister is his caste name. What Mahatekar says may be correct only in the case of dalits.

You are one person, who cannot be sensitive to people's caste. there is a division in society and there exists upper castes and lower castes. I have not seen, if people were offended when they are called by upper caste names. It happens only in case of dalits because, they want equality after many years of exploitation by the so called upper castes. If you are calling them by the caste name, it means you are telling them on their face, you are inequal than me and I am rich, arrogant, upper caste person with pride in my caste name.. that proves that.. you want to keep discriminating people. Can't understand????....travel anbroad, foreigners don't know castes.. they will call every one as brown people or dark people.. then u will know what the discrimination is...

If so!!! remove/take out the caste name from the constitution which the respected caste people does not want to be with that caste. Why dont Indians try to make a single caste as Hindu or Indian??? This no one will accept because they need the caste for reservation and votes. Then why the hell you are producing the caste certificate when you do not like some one to call with that caste?? First you stop saying or producing the caste name bye yourself then expect from others.

Birth-based Caste system is 3000 years old. British did not create it. In fact, after the British came it started weakening.

Without the British Rule the conditions would have been worse.

We want to bring up specific Caste or all poor people?
by GN on Dec 01, 2007 05:10 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

The requirment is for Free Education, Free Food, Free study materials , Facility for shelter, Facility for livelihood for alll LOWER CLASS PEOPLE. IRRESPECTIVE OF CASTE, RELIGION.
60% of the people below poverty lines are from SC or ST category. There are many from MUSLIM, Christians and HINDUS - upper category below poverty line.
But people want reservation only in the name of caste or religion not in the name of Economical Class

Mochi, Darji, kumbhar, Sunar, chamar,......

Mochi, Darji, kumbhar, Sunar, chamar,...... If someone is identified with his profession what's wrong ... aren't we calling doctor, compounder, driver, builder, contractor, scientist, painter, poet, so on & so forth..... Consitution shud be interpreted in right spirits. Our PLEDGE in text books reads .... ALL INDIANS ARE MY BROTHERS & SISTERS .... what u make of it ? Politicians need to focus on worthy causes. They hurt more than anything else now-a-days. They rake up non-existent issues .... such energy rather shud be used to fight larger issues like corruption, terrorism, poverty , etc...... all r hurt ( not only Dalits ) by such issues. Come on Politicians ... hv a heart & mind worthy of democracy.
