It's a sensitive issue, so its a request to rediff not to invite comments on this story. Otherwise rediff itself providing platform to the public to comment ON SUCH ISSUES AND MIGHT GET FRAMED FOR GIVING BASE WHICH MIGHT HURT SENTIMENTS OF A PARTICULAR COMMUNITY. SO ITS A REQUEST TO TAKE OUT DISCUSSION BOARD FOR THIS STORY.
Lets get real. I am from south and have never heard of both "mochi" and "charmakar" terms. But if the word abuses any community then the song should be banned. This one sounds much more sensible than the old utterly stupid controversy on the "sexy sexy mujhe log bole" one.

And to my surprise... there is one pretty well known shoe shoppe in Bangalore named "mochi". Those fellows might well be scared now.

Dalit leaders should not do the same mistake what Narendra Modi done in Gujarat as a Hitler. They do only our PM does for Sardar (bring George Bush to make whole Sardar martyr -- I fear any controversy)
This is the most funny and preposterous thing I've ever heard! Until these guys get over their inferiority complex, they themselves are not going to progress. It is so unfortunate that the aam junta has to go through such ridiculous scenes. Can't someone lodge a case in the SC against these leaders? I hope so!

"MOCHI" if i am mochi i will be proud if people call me MOCHI. There is nothing wrong being called Mochi. If you are Brahmin is called Brahmin , Shiks are called Sardar , they do not get angry, like that there is nothing wrong if Mochi is called Mochi. On the other hand Mochi should tell all people tocall them Mochi. Do not get Shy be smart.

nobody would have cared about this,if it was not raised!!!! it is not the lyricist, but these leaders who are insulting our dalit brothers by making an issue out of it. 99% of people in India call the cobbler a "mochi", the clay-pot maker a "kumor", the blacksmith a "lohar" and the goldsmith a "sonar" without any derogatory intentions. These leaders are forcibly arousing a feeling of inferiority complex by making the lyrics of such an innocuous thing as a hindi movie song an national issue. Grow up people, don't get exploited by these people (leaders) who make mountain out of mole-hill just to garner minority support. It is utterly childish and immature to squabble over such petty things. There are are a million other useful things to do. Banning of a movie is a senseless thing to do,it gives the film a free publicity!!!!
