Highly politically motivated.. they chose the timing precisely to be the date of release of movie.... inspite of the fact that the song is being aired on Radio and Telvision for past 1 month... just a way to get their bit of mileage and/ or bountyful of money from the film maker....
Birth-based Caste System is 3000 years old connected to Karma theory of Hinduism. This must be rapidly reformed. Otherwise it can lead to social and political instability, in addition to making people of other religions taking advantage to destabilise Hinduism.

Youb have erred in interpreting the Karma theory. The theory propounds that a person doing sins will have to bear it whether in this birth or the next one. It nowhere mentions that a person doing sins will be born as mochi in the next birth!!People who are dalits shuld feel proud in calling themselves dalit, just like sardarjis dont object to offensive jokes, nor do marwadis when anyone miser is referred to as marwadi!!

Dear Raja
This Karma theory is adamently and crudely followed in Christianity which can nakedly be seen in many remote village churches of southern india.
Frankly Hinduisum is the only adaptable religion according to the circumstances. There are no strictures in the scriptures. All the strictures and rules are man made. Infact, as per the sastras, wearing of Metti by man and Mangal Sutra by woman is only an identity of their status. It was converted to a ritual because of male domination that, now both Metti and Thali are worn by woman. There is no Dowry in Shastra. Infact, it is the Groom family who has to pay the Bride family and take care of them in their adversity. It is reverse now - again man made. Let us not blame the religion without knowing the thorough facts.

When you are suffering from sickness, you go to doctor and seek medicine. Does it mean everyone should call you " 'Hey sick man' how are you?"
It is really suprising that grandson of Dr. Ambedkar has this views about dalits. He is actually insulting dalits bt interpreting the use of word "mochi" as a casteiest remark whereas it is clearly evident that lyricst has just used it to convey that everyone in the town is on a high. There is no point banning the song. Even school kids are taught through text books published by our government that a coobbler is called a mochi.

Dalit leaders should not do the same mistake what Narendra Modi done in Gujarat as a Hitler. They do only our PM does for Sardar (bring George Bush to make whole Sardar martyr -- I fear any controversy)

The english language makes a differentiation between a tanner who tans raw hides and skins and supplies these to a cobbler who makes them into shoes. So the tanner is the charmakar Not the cobbler
"MOCHI" if i am mochi i will be proud if people call me MOCHI. There is nothing wrong being called Mochi. If you are Brahmin is called Brahmin , Shiks are called Sardar , they do not get angry, like that there is nothing wrong if Mochi is called Mochi. On the other hand Mochi should tell all people tocall them Mochi. Do not get Shy be smart.
