I dont think so.... film should be taken in a light spirit.... anything said in the film or song does not make the caste to look bad.....if no issues are raised noone will even pay attention to those lines
The agitation over casteist remarks in a song is rightly brought up by Dalit activists in India. The upper castes have created this derogatory language and dictionary during the centuries of their domination of society. Downtrodden communities and women were always refered to in derogatory terms and the same was used by the song writer in "Aja Nachale". The entertainment industry should avoid all derogatory remarks against Dalits and Tribals in whatever "CRAP" they produce to earn a living.
mochi is caste which also identifies thier profession just like some of other caste. Farmers across india have different caste.
For the intelligent ones who claim what is there in caste, please pickup any indian sites/newspaper and count how many percentage of ads says caste no bar....
Using the name of one's profession is as bad as calling an MP an MP , an MLA an MLA , a Goernment Servant a Government Servant , aMinister a Minister as most of them have earned bad name in our country. So all professional names shoud be banned as an Insult .The whole of Inida will be MUM.Right .One small doubt .If professional name s are insuilting , who is responsible for the profeesional names and the corresponding insults?
To all the people who are respnding to this friend from Western countries....
What is wrong in calling black person black. Try that in your office (if you have guts) and call a black person, black and then if you surive to tell the story please share with us why Mochi shouldn't be called mochi!!

It is very convenient to say it is internal matter of india. Well that country is 20% of this world. Number 2 is where you contradict yourself, if there is no discrimination in india as you claim (and i am in medival times) why bother arguing in front of UN that it is internal matter! If you have nothing to hide then why protest if someone is just trying to declare that it is bad.
As far as your contant harping on reservation, I will give it up in a minute when I have to stop keeping partner from upper class in my business in india, where it is gauranted for failure if I don't have keep "god father caste" in the business. And this is not medival nor a small village. Its a very repectable tier 2 city of 20 lacs. Stop harrassing my business, and I will join in your voice for removing reservation. Can you help me? I guess I am asking too much.... Seat on your freakin' fat ass here in US of A and please don't comment what is wrong. I have been staying here for 15 years but travel 3 times/year for my business and have been talking from personal experience. Stop pontification and do something. If you are interested in joining the nation do let me know, but I doubt so....

To Madhwa
If you do not remember then let me remind you. Last UN conference in Africa, everybody tried to to include caste as discrimination. Which also exists in Japan. It was the Indian government which opposed that!! Now we all agree there is a discrimination in india on basis of caste. Lets not be naive or be ostrich about that fact. Having said that I do not want to go in depth of your ineptitude in understanding the larger issue of social unrest and discrimation.
As far as mine is bigger then yours attitude, I do not want to belittle myself. In your post you assumed from the start that I am in a hell hole in india, first mistake, then once clarified you assumed I work for xtian bosses, second mistake, I work for indian bosses. Then you assumed I can't be serious in having been promoted as best of best in CEO/President's club. The constant assumption and prejudice is already built in you. There is no fool like an ignorant person, which is where I will put you. You assumed everything and started bashing, that shows the color of people like you (mind you NOT caste, COLOR) I do not expect you to understand this, because this is generating into quite a foolish arguments, without addressing the key issue that is being discussed here. I feel sorry for people like you who give this country such a bad reputation. It is a great nation and see what it has been reduced to by likes of you.....
God save this nation. Disclaimer: I am not xtian and I have no love for them!!

Dude, whoever you are, you have elegantly trashed this "Mad"hwa chap. I loath the way he makes an assumption every minute. Anyway for Mad and his clan days are numbered as everyone becomes conscious they will bargain for better education, political power etc... But Mr Mad and his clan cannot tolerate it! they become restless and frustrated hence this outrage on the net!
Every society be it Christian, Hindu or Muslim had its fair share of oppression in the past. Its time to change that order. Those who blame Hindiusm for caste system, do not realize it was organic growth for that time just like christianity and Islam created slavery. You can't willy nilly blame present day Brahmins for the past. What the hell where majority so called dalits doing then? Basically they were stupid.. accept that fact. Now in 2007, move on, get education and government has been helping since 60 years like never before in the whole history.
This is what happens when a cunning missionaries come in contact with dalits like Bhim.. they make backward and stupid people like him believe they are original people and every body else foreigners.. get a grip .. and know that brahmins are as organic as dalits in India..they are not foreigners...like our white masters make us belive with AIT theory
If it hurts some one's feeling, then it should be removed. Times are changing and society has to adopt to changes. I agree in this aspect with Udit Raj and this partry
Everyone thinks that biggest enemy of hinduism is Christian missionaries, and Islam.. this is the fundamental misconception of every Brahmin also. But this is completely wrong , The biggest enemy of Hinduism is the "Varnashrama Scheme", I really dont know which great person implemented this scheme but this is what will eventually kill hinduism. Christian missionaries infact need not convert anyone all Hindus will naturally convert to Christianity its just matter of time. Problem is SC / ST's feel so betrayed they just cant come to terms with the fact that they have been betrayed for 3000 years. There is just no way to stop conversion. And Dear everyone you might want to fight with me for speaking the truth, I totally agree fight with me but before you fight just verify one fact. Go to Tamil Nadu and just look at the number of people converting to Christianity especially southern districts, if you really verify this you will never fight with me. Iam also a Hindu and a OBC at it , I get confused yaar there is so much hatred in this religion. Instead of focusing our energies on refining talent or achieving something great in life every morning all hindus wake up to fight fello hindus ( castes ) I cant think of one other religion in the world which does this.
Newspapers are filled with caste fights, Caste maneuvers in politics, reservations, and split in the Hindus through politics god damn it man...
