nuke deak

It would be a foolish decision to put the issue for voting with voters of our country 90% of whom may not even understand it. The decisions should be best left to the professionals rather than our voters and their representatives

i m with u on the voting matter. i wonder how such a suggestion came from MR Srinivasan. leaving decision making for voting shows inefficiency. When Pilate asked whether to release Barnabas or Jesus, they voted for Barnabas.

Its Barabbas not Barnabas. he was a member of the sicarii, a militant Jewish movement that sought to overthrow the Roman occupiers of their land by force.
He was a rebel leader. He was fighting for the common mans freedom. There was no way people were going to ask the release of Jesus instead of him. Get your "History" right.
This is irrelevant here though

lol..
Mark 15:7. And there was one called Barabbas, who was put in prison with some seditious men, who in the sedition had committed murder.
Sedition means rebellion.
"And there was one named Barabbas, in prison with those who had gone against the government and in the fight had taken life"

Voting for nuke deal!!!!!
by Amit Sharma on Aug 30, 2007 09:58 AM  Permalink  | Hide replies

I am sure 98% of the people dont know or aware of nuke deal between india & us. What is hide act..what is 1-2-3 deal..How could you expect that people can vote for right one. Diplomatically we should solve that problem rather going for public opinion ( most of those are unware of deal).

Now India is changed very rapidly. See the internet connection & computer associations. 98% is not a reasonable figure for ignorance any way, it is a very exaggerated figure.

naturally american hospitals are the best, no one in the right mind goes to russian or chinese hospitals!

hmmmm......so being closer with america/europe after 1990 was much more useful as the economy grew by 9% and poverty level declined to 26%, unlike the nehruvian/soviet alliance growth rate of 1.2% and poverty level of 50%.

They should have taken the initiatives taken during their to their logical conclusions and stood by congress on this important issue. At least they would have proved that on issues of national interest, BJP does not play politics. But the present party is a shadow of itself. Even politically, they would have opposed the left and embarrassed the congress.

Left does not need any introduction. With enemies like left, Pakistan and China do not need friends.

The basic problem is that the leaders (of the political parties - country has hardly any leader) have treated the issue like any other issue and dealt with it with the tokenism prevalent in all other activities. The support is symbolic - party based without understanding the content, the opposition even more so - since it is with US, it must be bad or since it is signed by congress, we must oppose.

What else do we expect from these manniquins masquerading like Gods?

So, you cannot think anything like that.

Parliamentary approval is hogwash
by Mahesh Jagga on Aug 30, 2007 08:20 AM  Permalink  | Hide replies

Do we believe that our typical MP whose perception about national security stops at gang wars of Balia or Saharsa is qualified to vote or even have an opinion on the deal? He will support it if his party says so and he does not lose any votes in the bargain. Similarly he will oppose it if his party says so and will sell to his Muslim voters to gain more votes.

Do we really expect these oafs to understand the 123 agreement, Hyde act and implications on long term national security and energy needs. Ask them to define energy or power and they will point to their henchmen carrying unlicenced guns!

On a similar tone, do we expect voters who keep voting for people like Raja Bhaiya to understand the nuances and be discerning? Our voters do not expect nor demand, a symbolic support on agricultural issues when it comes to seeking accountability of elected representatives.

So what does it boil down to? It is the responsibility of established and respected (!) leaders of main political parties in tandem with civil servents and corporate honchos to find the right direction.

Unfortunately, MMS is not credible enough even in Congress. Amma has not committed herself to any direction and as a result the congressman is not able to tell whether deal is good or bad unless word comes from 10 Janpath.

BJP has sqaundered an opportunity to be seen as a party for progressive India. It should have understood congress may be their enemy but commies are country's enemies. cont...

MMS should have clarified the deal in parliament since beginning apart from just saying it is 'good'. Even now, he should solicit BJP's support after clarifying the questions put forth by public about the Hyde act.

Somehow, we never hear or read any informative statement from our 'PM' ? Wrong person for this job, phew !

Sonia should call for early election
by sumani on Aug 30, 2007 12:38 AM  Permalink  | Hide replies

Given the division that 123 has created, the governmnet should call for an early election.

It looks like 123 has been approved by the government despite parliamentary opposition. Only a fresh mandate through new election will bring back any legitimacy to MMS government.
