He might have some given points, for that he is telling apology. That is what he is telling mis-understandings.
RE:Speaker can not ask for an apology

Chill out ..its india ;) any thing can happen... but i don't want to see following things to happen..
PM --> Lalu/Mulayam or even Karunanidhi FM --> Shukram HM --> Sibu DM --> Arun Gawli or Sahabuddin
i can tell you, anything is possible here.. you just need the numbers to support you in the floor... and any bullshit person can become a minister and rule the country.
(this is personal openion and i am not going to apolozige to anyone for this :) not even to the LS Speaker)
Last time when he said he made some comments & he said it was taken as mis-understandingly. Some said, he is arrogant, he won't issue apology for the hurt, but he said apology & proved that the people who said, he is arrogant. He thinks national interest above keeping his prestige and come down & give apology even though he didn't commit anything. That way I appreciate him.
Mr. Ronen Sen had forgotten the minimum lessons of diplomacy when he made the disgraceful (for himself and for our country)remarks about Parliamentarians. He tried to engage in damage control in the diplomatic way, though, by disowning what he had said, and by getting a piece or two written by the TOI Washington correspondent (must be a good friend in deed) testifying for him. At last, he had the sense to 'apologise' only after receiving Privilege notice and fearing for his job. He must have learnt his lesson by now.

I agree. See whats Nitish Kumar did in Bihar is calling a Magistrate and when he didn't recognised him over the phone he transferred him. Ego . I'm the king everyone should know me.
We know what our MPs are- nothing but bunch of corrupt jokers. But it was wrong from Mr. Sen's part to comment. He is India's envoy to US, it reflects badly on country's image. With his apologies I think sanity is restored
