Where is the source? How did they do the survey?In which part of the country they conducted this research? If they do consider UNISEF and WHO reports majority of the population in India struggle to earn decent money to feed their families regularly. These weapons are not that cheap, so you do the math. I lived in India 20 some years never came across a civilian family with guns. I heard about private armies and naxals and other organizations. But this report is way off. Indian civilians as far as i know dont tout guns in public. Please check your source...
If Pak has 12 firarms per 100 people and India has 4 firearm per 100 people then how come India stands second in the count? and it also says USA is followed by Yamen with 61 guns per 100 people and Iraq has 39 per 100 people. I believe there is a big mistake who ever has come up with the numbers. Can anyone believe Iraq has 39 per 100 people. i think they would surpass USA big huge margins.

the inference is skewed. india ranks second based on the total number of private lisenced guns. how ever it is 4 per 100 due to the population. so it is a classic example of articles with misleading titles. and a study without any relevence. If it is to be compared, you have to see the number of guns per 100 people.
This is a whole lot of Bull----!Maybe one person has 1oo arms, maybe another has 200, maybe another has 500. and so on. If you have 1 Billion people plus. Can a survey like this be credible??
How many illegal firearms are in a country? That may suggest you the most dangerous country in the world.
These reports could be based on government statistics on those who have licensed.
I've read (in rediff) that in certain provinces of Pakistan they can buy AK47s like knives. I would guess Afghanistan, Iraq and Palestine must have a good flow of firearms.
It did not surprise me. In such a corrupt country if you cannot get things through official channels, meaning that its hard, you can always get it underground. This is the sorry story of India. There is always another way to get things done and that is they way most used

How they dis estimation is very simple. They check how many murder has taken place with bullet injury. Their source was all Indian news paper. This figure was counter checked with government statistics whenever it exceeded 5 % of news paper figure.
I think If real figure comes out India will be first and not America. At least in Us people have licencesed Fire arms. In India I believe 95% is illegal Chineese made revolvers smuggled through Bangladesh.
