Our country is an easy target for everybody for anything. Whenever a bomb blast takes place state and central government promptly blame several militant groups, Bangladeshis and Pakistan ISI. Government has failed in all fronts in tackling militancy and terrorism. All terrorist outfits are Muslims. Even Muslim community want to get distanced from these terrorists. But the fact remain that terrorists get shelter and protection in many parts of India and they are able to strike at will whenever and wherever they want. Government is reluctant and has failed to expose the people who are helping and protecting these terrorists. Protectors include public, police and politicians. What prevent our government to expose and punish these people.
Secondly present India is different from 1947 Independent India. Nehru could travel all over India in an open car in Independent India. Now even local leader cannot move without heavy police protection. Many policies are affecting internal security. In many cases government do not think of consequences while making announcements. Government introduced bus and train services between Pakistan, Bangladesh and India, ignoring security concerns. No security check in Nepal border. Even as the existing intelligence wing of the State government has failed to fulfil its duty in preventing a series of bomb explosions in Hyderabad, thanks to growing intereference of the political bosses, Chief Minister Dr Y S Rajasekhar Reddy has decided to set up a "world-class" elitist intelligence wing in the police department to provide "teeth" to intelligence network in handling terrorists menace.
The Chief Minister, apparently under pressure from the Congress high command for tightening the law and order in the State, asked top brass of the police to constitute a committee comprising of DGs and IGs and submit a report within a week. Union Home Minister Shivraj Patil reportedly conveyed the displeasure of Madam Sonia Gandhi to the Chief Minister over the over-indulgence of politicians in the police department and failure of intelligence department in studying the inputs given by the Central intelligence about the presence of terrorist sleeping cells in Hyderabad.
According to the Chief Minister, the new intelligence wing will act just as the Grey Hounds formed 25 years ago. This elite force would get 25 per cent to 50 per cent more pay and perks than the counterparts in the department. The force would be filled through 50 per cent direct recruitment and rest would be the best of the brains from the department. YSR told the police officers that the blast was a wake up call and police personnel across the State have to be on their toes to meet any eventuality.
Faced with mounting criticism for going ahead with the wedding celebrations of his son hours after the twin bomb blasts in the state capital on Saturday evening that killed 44 people and injured about twice as many, former Andhra Pradesh chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu lost his shirt while on a visit with his extended family to Tirupati on Monday.
The preceding day's jibes at his decision to go ahead with the wedding in spite of the tragedy, got to him, and Naidu blasted the officials of the Balaji temple administration for not booking enough and the best rooms for them.
For a man who has been on the political centre-stage and aspires to become the CM again, the TDP supremo%u2019s decision not to downplay his son's much publicised wedding celebrations was surprising.
No wonder, it continues to draw flak in view of the fact that the state had witnessed the worst terror strike just the previous day. Perhaps, by going ahead with the ceremony, Naidu is trying to say politics and personal matters must be kept separate, proffer his apologists. But the detractors are far too many.
"Naidu should have downplayed the wedding after the bomb blasts," said an angry Hyderabadi, Sunit Reddy. Many found his de-linking politics with family ironical considering he rose in politics to become the CM by dethroning his father-in-law and veteran actor N T Rama Rao.
