George >> Please understand, Thorium by itself is not Fissile. It needs to be irradiated first, than it becomes useful. First step is to have Uranium and India is hopelessly short on that.

Bottom line >> We do not have all the links to make complete Chain

The Three Stage Reactor Technology is not yet a proved one so as to enable us to fully depend on to produce commercial energy. We only have a small Fast Breeder Reactor that was perhaps inaugurated by Rajeev Gandhi. Had we been having a commercial Reactor based on the Technology, we could have thought of not going for any outside help.

Not much of hope from Thermal and hydel energy to fuel the requirement of energy in the next decade and beyond.

This is International Politics, not Domestic politics.
by Mikkey Moouse on Aug 24, 2007 02:58 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

let not wranglings and tussles between the National Congress Party, the BJJP Party and the Calcutta Communist Party be responsible for sending the entire economy into the dumps.

Good relations with America and its Allies the European Union, Japan, South Korea & Taiwan means access to the largest trading bloc in the world - 35 trillion dollars economy/year, technology transfer, jobs & oustourcing, liberal travel regulations etc.

Bad realtionship with Anerica means no more foreign investemnt, no more outsourcing, no jobs, no technology transfer, no American/European/Japenese/Korean products, nothing. Only Chinese Pong-Wong cars & plastic toys & Russian Lada cars & Chernobyl reactors that blow up every week will be available.

just hype that the Republic of India is such a large market ? its just 1 trillion dollars, compared to 11 trillion for USA, 4 trillion for Japan & Germany each.

the Republic of India gains much more than the USA from this deal.....technolgy transfer, outsourcing, exports market, uranium supply, h1-b visas etc

How much your father's generation was earning at their retirement age? Must be about 100th of what our young guys are earning at the entry level. Does this mean that they were less capable? Those statistics are drawing very eronious conclusions. You know the disary the country was in in 50s and 60s, the Planners then had given the much needed stability. The economic prosperity of today, about which you have mentioned, is on the strong foundation they had laid down then. If the foundation is weak, we can not build a multi-storied construnction over it. Let us remember this always. The selective statistics, most of the times give opposit conclusions.

Another thing, our economical miracle is not an imported one. It is fully indegenious and is due to our economy's inner strength.

By the way, do you know as to what the economic growth is? It is only 2%.

Slaves of the Middle Kingdom
by Hiten Patel on Aug 24, 2007 02:37 PM  Permalink

http://frontierindia.net/slaves-of-the-middle-kingdom/

In a broadcast from Delhi on 1 January 1965, the union home minister Gulzarilal Nanda said "There is a reason to believe that the new party CPI (M) was formed under Peking%u2019s inspiration. It was to serve as Peking%u2019s instrument in creating conditions of instability in the country and to facilitate the promotion of Chinese designs against India in furtherance of her grand strategy of establishing hegemony over Asia and her declared aim of world revolution. There is reason to believe that the Left Communist Party has close links with the Chinese from whom it draws ideological inspiration and receives support in other forms." Sinha, The Red Rebel in India, pp 186-9.
