Kalam donates Rs 1 lakh to NGO
by James Bond on Aug 24, 2007 10:44 AM  Permalink

You were, you are and you will be the only choice for President of India post. We don't want you to compare with any Chacha or uncle, such names are politically given to enhance height of a particular party.

You are above all this. May god give you the best form of contentment and you live a healthy life. You still are our President and will remain. We love you more than any political leader. Truth has its own value and in today's time none of them have this precious commodity.

Don't compare Dr. Kalam with a character person like Nehru. Kalam is far.. far ... greater than incompetent Nehru.

a generous gesture a big heart
by ravi kumar on Aug 24, 2007 10:08 AM  Permalink  | Hide replies

As usual Kalam, A gr8 example indeed. I am also searching people whom I can donate. There are some who come to me for donations but i dont trust them. And I am sure there are many ppl like me. Many times I have fancied the idea of running a NGO myself but the responsibility is big, and I am just not bucking up the courage to stand up.

by the way thank you Ex president. you are a role model.

Dear Citizen, It is not a bad idea to donate to organisations you have mentioned but what I have seen is that they have very high administrative expenses. They show off by means of their expensive brochures etc. May be, they mean to attract or INFORM people by this. They spend a lot on advt and MARKETING gimmics. Many of them have telecallers who chase you like mad year after year if once you have contributed and you miss them next year. These kind of things put you off.
It may be a better idea to identify a few children near by from financially weak section and sponser their education or encourage them by giving a scholarship of Rs 200 - 300 pm with a condition that they will perform and not miss the school. It will be motivation for them and their family not to drop out from school. If one can help 10 -20 choldren like this in his life time, it will help to change social scene, howsoever small it is.
Or sponser an old age person, who has no body to look after or whose children are neglecting them, with some financial help may be Rs. 500 a month. This will give them a little hope, a good food atleast once a day and some thing to cheer about that atleast somebody cares for them.

And In turn one will get lots of blessings. Everyone is selfish you know.

This will ensure that your money is not going in drain ( Like advt. ar showing off) and every paisa you are contributing is doing some good.

Again it is up to the individual as every one has his own point of vie
