It is stupid feeling of people like Kundu to say that Dr Kalam has contributed as a tax saving measure. Don't misuse your freedm of speech. It shows your culture and background. Please be informed that he is a very saintly person. Tender your appolgies.

Did Subhajit Kundu give a rupee to the first beggar he saw this morning? Or, did he ever donate anything to Indian Red Cross or other charitable organizations before he espouses 'tax saving' measures as a reason for Mr. Kalam's contribution.

If he did not donate what will he do with 1 lakh of rupees?

May be buy something or else.

So he spent his money wisely.

But, we should not neglect the development of the nation. We cannot just go on praising someones good work and not doing anything by ourself.

BEWARE our respected KALAMji---these NGOs have doomed society
by rachita bholowalia on Aug 24, 2007 11:33 AM  Permalink  | Hide replies

our ever respected KALAMji---JAI HIND--i may join millions and millions of humanbeings who request you to remain away thes NGOs as their culture consists of corruption,no balance sheet and blackmailing society by all means.in our country at least these NGOs,Human Rights Commissions,Welfare Organistations,Media Clubs, any service/association run by govt.deptts./ lawyers/politicians loot the money, extort money if not given directly.they hardly submit any account.see latest case of Chawla-the EC and trust of brother of Mayawati and thousand others-hence if at all we have to serve society then collect material and distribute same within hours to the needy---lalt kumar

U cant club all NGOs in the same category miss....there are NGOS like PRADHAN,PRAGYA....and many others which are really making a huge difference to ppls life out there in poor rural INDIA..its easy to criticize sitting back in ac offices....but its tuff work for ppl working to uplift the down trodden....leaving behind the luxuries of metro life....I have seen ppl give up the easy corporate life and are now toiling in villages to make a difference..

All NGOs are not the same. Yes, Kalam or whoever needs to be more careful. But this timid nation is yet to stand up and work vigorously for the betterment of society. There are many more things to be done by charitable trust.

NGOs are a good news...always
by mohd khan on Aug 24, 2007 11:22 AM  Permalink

All of us pay taxes to the government. In what manner our taxes are utilized we all know. The level of corruption in the government is not hidden from anyone. Now about NGOs. All Indians are free to form an NGO (which is like a joint stock company of 7 or more partners and is entirely a private affair). It is also a matter of personal priority that these associate members form an NGO or a barber shop or a newspaper. Now if they open a barber shop or a newspaper they can make profits and noone can stop them from becoming rich. At the same time, if they form an NGO (a society to be specific) then bound by the Societieys Registration Act (which was fomulated 147 years ago by the colonizers british) their joint establishment cannot make any profits for personal gains. An NGO can still publish a newspaper, open a barber shop or a beauti parlour or a factory, but no single penny can be taken by any of the associate members as profit. In simple terms, all the profits made by an NGO have to be deposited in the NGO accounts only and invested for NGO profit only towards the written social objectives. Now it is entirely upon the assoiciate members to use the money and resources for the intended objectives, in majority of cases it happnes too. But many a times when the NGO heads use NGO resources people get wrong signals. When Tata and Ambani fly in the company copters no one points a fingure at them but when an NGO head uses the organisatio Car, eyebrows are raised

Dr. A.P.J. ABDUL KALAM - FINEST HUMAN BEING
by sunil nambiar on Aug 24, 2007 11:13 AM  Permalink

Its a great pleasure on knowing that Dr. Kalam has donated rs. 1 lakh from his hard earned money, He is an outstanding personality and a thorough gentlemen indeed, All the politicians should take a leaf out of him, who merely shedding crocodile tears or raising slogans will not benefit the coutrymen, Even if 5% of the total amount what our politicans have is donated, a huge difference in the life of the poorest of the poor will be found, Indeed India is not a poor country at all but a poorly managed country, not to be surprise that once upon a time our nation was richest in the world. May god increase the tribe of our former president, so as to find a ray of hope among the masses (especially vulnerable section), every true hearted person will not forgive the congress party for not supporting a visionary in his second term, and selected a person who has enormous controversy even before getting elected to the august office. May god bless you with long life Dr. Kalam and we always see you as our source of inspiration, strength and motivaror especially the children and young generation people. May god give you enough of strength to pursue your future goals and aims for our country, Its proud to say that you remain a non controversial man ever in your life, thus glowing and a shining example for all the honest citizens of this country to emulate you, still in our country persons like you exist, hence we are hopeful of a corrupt free nation atleast in the future.
