Mr Abe's visit along with his 243 member delegation is one of the best things to happen, India should try and make use of this opportunity to the maximum. Japanese are a disciplined lot and have some of the best companies on the planet. Toyota for example is on the verge of beating GM or may be they already have. India should get as much technology as possible along with their tried and tested techniques and processes. Also Indians should absorb the Japanese spirit.. Do not forget they were a war ravaged country and Earthquake seems to be one of their natural resource but just look at where thay are inspite of all this. I just hope Japanese have a open mind in dealing with India and have much broader interest than just investment, They should look at building long term relationship with India.
( )Reclaim But I see only one Issue our Left which will try to sabotage anything that would propel India to big league.
It is natural to feel excited about Japan's intentions over moving towards India but there is no need to go ga-ga over it. In the past also, Japan has made such overtures only to disppoint in actually implementing the promises. Japan preferred other south east asian countires like Thailand, Singapore, Malaysia and Philippines and then China over India. They always believe in absolute control and are wary of giving their technology. They did not get the expected promises from India and hence held back. Besides, apart from Honda and later Toyota, Japanese companies did not exactly won over Indian consumer. Sony and Matsushita failed against Samsung and LG. Suzuki succeeded initially only because of Government protection and now that has gone, Hyundai and Tata are eating away its share. In the Light Commercial Vehciles, Tata and Eicher literally banged door on them. Hence Japan's experience with India has not been so good. They are once again interested only because of India's growing clout and China's rising costs. So we should not show any preferential treatment to them. Afterall, we should not forget that though Japan continues to be a rich nation, China and India will overtake it eventually. It is the era of BRIC nations and we should deal with Japan on equal's terms

I can't disagree more. We *should* whole heartedly show preferential treatment to the Japanese. What we need is their investment which is much broader in aspects than success/failure of few of their companies. India's place in BRIC is due to healthy economic growth. And this growth can't continue without significant improvement in our infrastructure. For this to happen India requires money/knowhow/technology to achieve it as fast as she can. The Japanese have all three of the above which would help us. That they eschewed coming to us in past is no reason to hold it against them. They are coming now and we must facilitate their smooth transition to our country.

it is not smart to play favorites in economics of free market, which india should be if it already isn't. besides, japan is a freedom loving country and is interested in indian market; so let it be. i do not know what you mean by giving japan a "preferential treatment". according a warm welcome is a hindu tradition. heck india gives "preferetial treatment" to the pope of the vatican, and what good is he to india if not causing troubles and heartaches?

Sections of the government believe that the Left's campaign against the Indo-US nuclear deal is inspired by Beijing. China is reportedly unsettled by India's growing strategic ties with the US and next month's planned joint naval exercise with the US, Australia, Japan and Singapore in the Bay of Bengal. The Chinese sent a demarche to all participants wanting to know the nature of the exercises. When the Left raised the ante on the Indo-US pact, the Chinese media reported and commented on the events; this was considered a first because the Chinese media hardly ever focuses on India.

China is not enemy number 1. Left is enemy number 1. Government is quite because of our dirty politics.

They all should be banned from the land of Holy India
All countries should merge and live as one world. So that every human being can live happily. In this world no ones life is permanent, an individual comes with empty hand and goes with empty, as long as an individual lives; should live happily without any problem.
At present some are living very happy and some are suffering like anything. I don't know who has given the rights to divide the countries.
Think practically and logiclly, anyhow every country is taking help with other country in some areas, then why can't they live together.

Come on sir...be practical. This is the attitude that has made India shirink. Once upon a time...it had Afghan, Pak, Bangla, Nepal, Thailand, etc as Bharatvarsh. And now...we dont have half of kashmir and losing Arunachal Pradesh! Wake up...and be practical. Learn from history and change the very root of this thought.
Our leftist brothers have alredy been instructed by their "Chairman China" to create problems for any indo-japanese venture in line with indo-us civil nuclear treaty.Merit of the issue not to be considerd.
Japan has never been invaded by any country in the past and therefore there is no simulation of other countries culture also they struggled to get them built stronger post hiroshima-nagasaki tragedies and then building strong powerful nuclear energy plants, navy, army, I.T etc to excel in all the fields.but in very recent past years they beleive in Democratic policies wherein to get globalised and have a strong marketing strategies to deal with international markets. In today's world Japan learnt lot of things from India to be competetive in outsourcing field
